Nipples sticking out

Ok so I have a quick question for anyone who's also experienced this.

Why do my nipples stick out?:confused: I know it has something to do with puberty, but why does this happen?

Yeah seriously. It's not gay for your nipples to be sticking out. It happens to all guys (and girls ;))

I think he meant it was really annoying (slang for that is really gay) and hadnt thought on. Gay, i think in this context, meant annoying, not something attributed to homosexuality.
And, for the record, it wasnt the best choice of word to use etc....

this has also happend to me :( :( :( i now do not take off my shirt when i swim or stuff like that. im am not sure why our bodies do this and why it has to happen but it sure if annyoing!! :( ( i havent had puberty and am going through it now ) how many stick out? at first for me it was only 1 but now both are:(
