i have own a 250$ chromebook since December which would be almost a year and i want to know your thoughts on them because i hear that they get a bad rep and i do not really know why because they are such a great computer for just your basic internet browsing. i can get netflix and play videos fine so if you need a cheap computer chromebook is the way to go so i personally think

I agree. They're great.

they are a complete waste of money. $250 for a spyware-fest, glorified browser machine that can't really do anything else.
For the same money you can get anything from Kindles and android tablets that can also run a plethora of games, to full-blown Windows tablets that can run anything a normal laptop can.

I'm am actually using the Samsung Chromebook to make this reply. :D
I've enjoyed this Chromebook.
1. I received the Chromebook while Google was giving away 100GB for Google Drive when you get a chromebook. SO yea, I have 115GB on Drive now to use :)
2. The no virus thing is a good thing which most don't consider. Anti-Virus software slows down a PC a lot, more than you would want if you could afford to.
3. I use Google. My email, photos, docs, and I even use G+ sometimes. So it's a good idea to use Chrome to sync all my bookmarks, extensions, apps, and passwords through it.
4. The multi-touch tract pad is something I thought only Apple made with the MacBooks, but when I saw Google had one as well, I had to at least play around with it.
5. The price tag was a good thing for my Dad, and it helped him purchase the Chromebook I'm using.
6. The fact of it being cheap means If I break the chromebook, I can either get it replaced, or just buy a new one and it would still be under the price tag of 1 PC laptop (I'm talking about a good laptop)
7. I always tease Mom about "rebooting" the chromebook, and how it would take a long time. The fact it's running from a SSD and boots in 8 seconds is awesome and great to browse the web quickly.
But there are cons to it.
1. The WiFi keeps going out at random times, and sometimes I even have to reboot.
2. I don't think bluetooth headsets work yet, only bluetooth mouse or keyboards work.
3. Camera isn't the best, but still fun to use.
4. The touch pad sometimes gets annoying if it does something I didn't want it to do.
But to me, the good out-weighs the bad here.

I agree the Chrome book is great, but not for me. The Chromebook is for people who just like to do general interneting. They have no capability's as a proper PC, just as a great little media device. But personally I like to have a proper PC. Also the hole cloud thing is no good for me due to slow internet.
The reason they get a bad rap is because people don't know what they are, they are not a PC, not a Tablet, some ware in between.
Personally I think they are great, cheap little device just for people who like to internet, but not for me. I have more bulky needs from my computer.

I dont like chromebooks since itll need a constant internet connection and i dont have that. google is also mostly blocked here, so its basically a computer that boots up and does nothing.

They're useless for anything other than internet browsing, which removes all the diversity of what a regular laptop should be capable of.

It looks neat, but I don't think I'll be interested in having one
