Online auction site eBay has said it plans to overhaul its feedback system and will ban sellers from leaving negative comments about buyers.
EBay said problems were occurring, and slowing down trade, when buyers left negative comments about sellers who then retaliated with their own views.
From May, those selling on eBay will not be able to leave unfavourable or neutral messages about buyers.
Sellers say it will leave them unprotected.

I've used eBay several times, and if the buyer has lots of negative comments then I usually don't buy from them.
It's a stupid idea to get rid of negative comments as it will leave buyers left not knowing what the seller is like.
I voted "no".

It's a good idea and it's a bad idea. It's good because it does stop conflict. It's bad because it'll be harder for people judge what a seller is like without it. So I have voted "not sure".

Well I feel it's a good idea since it keeps off members that don't really have anything good to say. It's a bad idea though since anyone could report abuse to a member that isn't a troll and the good member gets the boot for it.

I don't think its a good idea, but then again I've only bought 1 thing on ebay and don't use it that much anyway. I suppose you can get a general idea of the seller by seeing if they have a lot of positive comments.

But people who leave negative rep for no reason aren't booted, they have it removed if they have good enough reason. They should be considering buyer's safety over a small inconvenience.

ban sellers from leaving negative comments about buyers.
You all misinterpreted it. There will still be negative comments on sellers from buyers, just not on buyers from sellers.

Bad idea. How else will we be able to determine the reliability of people?
Doc.

[-]No, they should not ban negative comments about users. They allow people to know if they are a trustworthy seller and that they won't get ripped off.[/-] I missed that last post. *edits again* Wow... I knew vB was bad but not so much that there aren't even strike through tags.

Seriously, ALL OF YOU ARE WRONG :P
It stops RETALIATION, not negative comments.
Good idea.

If people really wanted to put a negative comment, they could just put it as positive anyway right?

its good in a way if people just spam it, but its really annoying in other ways such as now you dont really know now about bad sellers.
