I would suggest paper towel, that won't tear as easy. Better yet, if you can use a washcloth or a real towel that works even better! If not then a shower sure does the job~ :)

Using a dirty article of clothing is a good idea. Just goes into the wash with everything else. I would normally use a tissue or two and that isn't a problem for me. It doesn't tear like toilet paper would.

If you want something disposable then try facial tissues. Toilet paper is specifically designed to break into little pieces when wet (to avoid blocking the toilet) whereas facial tiisues are stronger.
