Mine would have to be Sixx: A.M. or just Nikki Sixxs lost lyrics. What are yours?

Opeth, especially the album Damnation. It's weird because that album is very depressing, but I guess it made me feel like I wasn't alone. Plus Mikael has such a nice voice he could be singing anything and it would make me feel better.

I bet most of you have not heard of him, MandoPony. If it weren't for his music, my depression would've taken over and had succeeded in killing me.
Simply, ponies.

Emilie Autumn is the obvious one for me. I found her music right when I needed it the most (well, a couple weeks earlier would have been slightly better lol). It was literally the beginning of the school year when about two weeks prior I had just been hospitalized for the first time. I found EA five months after I started self-harming. I found her right after my bipolar diagnosis. She taught me that mental illness shouldn't be taboo. She taught me to healthily embrace mental illness as a part of me, but not who I am. She was a role model for me that experienced the self-harm, the sexual abuse, the anorexia and she just turned 34 and she's still here and thriving. That if someone doesn't like who I am, then they don't matter. That musicians can actually care about their fans like they're family. She gave me her book that detailed a mental quirk/coping mechanism that I had never seen in anyone else but myself and thought I was crazy for it. I read said book during the worst of my hospital stays. She also made me realize that I'm gay, and maybe if I didn't find out when I did, I would have missed out on falling for another amazing woman who's helped me through a ton of shit.

Of Mice & Men, Bring me the Horizon, Avenged Sevenfold. These three bands inspired me to start making music, and in turn helped me deal with my depression.

Don McLean, The Runaways, and The Smiths helped me the most.
Their music just hits me a different way than most of what I listen to, and it made me feel right.
