Hey everyone i haven't posted in god only knows how long.

For those of you who don't know me, hello my name is Jon, i hope we can all help each other out.

I have a problem, i have been failing school for some time, i was mostly an A, B student all until 6th grade. I started to accumulate some absences and then, my grades slipped to D's. In 7th grade i had about 40 absences and i failed and was forced to enroll in summer school. etc... The problem never got resolved. I am currently a sophomore and i am on a homebound system to avoid another truancy ticket. I have been to the psychiatrist he said i have dysthermia but thats unlikely to be the cause, and to get my thyroid checked out. I did and it was overactive, so i went on medication for that, but there is no change..

What happens is i fall asleep, but can not ever wake up, i will get in full blown arguments, eyes open and fighting. Afterwards i will go right back to sleep and have no memory of any fight. This poses a problem, how will i get to school or work? Please someone if you have anny suggestions please help!

Honestly, I have no clue. Unless someone here suffers from the same problem and knows what it is, I don't think we can really help you. I suggest that you keep pushing this with the doctor. Keep a record of when this happens, what was happening before you fell asleep, anything else that might be relevant. Maybe there's a pattern. All I can think of, since you mentioned an instance with a fight, is that maybe you're falling asleep to escape the fight, you don't want to deal with the emotions associated with it, so you say "ok, fight over, I'm gonna go back to my room and fall asleep now", and your mind takes care of it for you by blocking it out. Who knows if that's it, it's just what came into my head. You might need to see a psychiatrist rather than just a general physician, if he/she continues to be stumped.

Good luck.
