There are two types of parties that I've been to.

The first - the type where everyone stands around just chatting and drinking nasty cheap beer with a really low alcohol content, and a couple of people get a bit tipsy but nothing really happens.

The second - the type where people drink straight up from bottles of hard liquor or questionable flasks, usually vodka or whiskey. Then people go around doing stupid things until someone falls on a tv or breaks something or throws up all over someone and everyone piles into cabs and goes home at 3 in the morning.

When I ever go to one it's soft drinks, coffee, tea and juice for everyone. The soft drinks are most popular. I drink decaf if it is available. My aunts have food they have prepared while my Mom goes to the store and gets something. Then we play cards and watch the ball drop at the end of the night. :cool:

Usually there's a lot of Strongbow that other people drink which i think tastes horrible but I like vodka mixed with juice or coke etc. Usually the drinks I have are like wkd, barcardi breezers and other 4% exotic cocktail drinks. I have to drink a fair bit to get drunk but it tastes nice so I don't care how many it takes.

it's the hormones. The thrill of breaking the rule and not getting caught is addictive to some people. Not me though.

My kind of party is different from what you guys have there across the oceans. I've had light alcohols such as mojito and some weirdly-named cocktail that consists of tonic but apart from that it's tea and coffee.

Girls usually take low % things like smirnoff or cocktail/spirit kind of things. I take cans of lager/beer. I will probably take higher % things to next parties because you don't have to drink as much, it's usually less calories than beer too. I guess a few shots of vodka would be healthier than the 10 cans i usually take which probably have around 3000 calories

my number one rule: never pay for alcohol. i literally just ask people if i can "borrow" some of theirs.

Two tpyes,
Closed parties - includes close friends and people who are invited not open house and if you just show up you'll get asked to leave nicely and if you don't well, bad things. Usually more expensive liquor Ciroc , Hennesy, Gentlemen's Jack, and import beers, Harp, Smithwicks etc. Blue Moon and Guinness are acceptable

Open parties- no invite really needed, you won't get kicked out unless you be an ass or a large group doesnt like you. Shitty beer, Bud Light, Corona, etc. Shitty liqour for those who bum, expisive for those who pay. Usually $5 for 2 shots.

I prefer "closed" a lot more fun less bullshit.
