Thought this might be the best place to put this. My parents smoke, not around me, but indoors and I end up smelling like smoke. It is literally one of the first things someone will say to me when they first meet me. Ironically, my mom will tell people she smokes and they'll be suprised because she doesn't smell like smoke at all. Because I don't know if it's my clothes, myself, or just the fact that I live in my house, I don't even know where to start. Any advice would be much appreciated.

You can use perfume, or try to avoid getting too close to your parents, or maybe ask them to smoke outside the house.

My friend's parents smoke in the house, and I can pretty much guarantee that there's no getting rid of that smell. He could wash his clothes every day and you'd still smell it on him. People can probably smell the smoke on your mom too. The best you can do is look for the best laundry detergent for getting rid of smells and shower every day. It's just the house, the best way to not have it there is for your parents to smoke outside.

Talk to them about it and make them see that it's making you feel self consious. Maybe bring up the idea that they should smoke outside from now on or at least by an open window. My friend goes to her grandparents house for like an hour on a wednesday and when I see her afterwards she stinks of smoke and she's not even there for long. I don't think there's any other way of getting rid of the smell. Like the user above said you could find the best detergent for getting out the smell but other than that talking to them is the only thing that might get you somewhere.

Tell them to smoke outside or smoke in a room where it's not affecting how you smell each day, My mom and dad also smoke so I know the problem. And it does get on your clothes, so I'd suggest keeping them in something that doesn't let the smoke get on it.

well, my grandmother smokes in the house, but she smokes outside if we come visit. so i say, try to get your parents to start smoking outside of the house. and if they are smoking around you, tell them about the dangers of second hand smoking(aka what your doing)
