You don't really get to pick- I mean you don't turn up and ask for the M16 it's not call of duty. They assess your physical strengths and skills and see if you're good enough to be in the infantry, the scout sniper requires a near perfect shooting skill so it's not just the average marine who would be a sniper

Sounds like good and factual advice.

yea sorry bud, its not a choice. however there are things you can do to up your chances of being in the classification you want. its never a guarantee though. when you qualify with your weapon which would be the M4, just try to take in everything you have learned in basic as far as shooting goes. try to make the best shots of your life and if Marksman is what you want then you have a HIGHER chance of getting it. not guaranteed though. and if your shot score is high enough you might even qualify for sniper school. but as was said before, its not call of duty.

Yeah to add on to that to be a sniper you need a lot of things. You need 2020 vision and a few other things to even qualify. That 2020 vision.is what fucked.me.before it started.

first of all, no matter what you do, you are a rifleman by default. second, you dont get to pick, you get recommended. third, the roles arent seperated like classes. you are a rifleman upon completing basic traning. you are also capable, but not designated, as operating a heavy machine gun or general machine gun. to become a scout sniper, you must have natural or corrected 20/20 vision, a top shot, and be recommended by your CO. you must then complete the scout sniper school, which has a 50% fail rate. you can go onto more advanced training after basic, and become a combat engineer or assaultman (personel that specialize in the offensive use of explosives) or train to be a armored vehicle crew member, or an communication specialist. you can be anything except a medic (navy corpsmen fill that role).
