Ive only just started a week ago, thinking it could help me. ive been depressed for years now, suicidal, and i started cutting myself because i wanted to feel something. i feel emotionally numb, but when i cut, I feel incredible.
Now when i look at myself, see these cuts all over my arm, i feel terrible. I dont know why but i feel so guilty.
I dont cut very deep, i dont even bleed, i just cut enough to feel pain. My left arm is now constantly sore from it. I have a hard time getting used to hiding them.
I dont know what to do, i know i shouldn't be doing this, yet i cant stop.

You should talk to someone about this maybe a friend and try to keep yourself calm and distracting from doing this

Hi dear.
I'm telling you now, and I think you should listen to me. STOP. Stop doing it. You haven't been cutting for many weeks or months or years, if people who have been cutting for a very very long time can stop, you can stop. Get rid of whatever you can that you could use to cut with. When you feel like you want to cut, bite your tongue, and go do something distracting. Watch a feel-good movie like a chick flick, something easy to watch. Listen to your favorite music, and write down all of the *good* things in your life, and keep it with you all the time. Come on, you can get through this, I believe in you. Take control of your life. You can do this.
If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to VM me.

hey, welcome to VT.
yea, i know how hard it is. Going through it right now. but as you are still a couple weeks into it, you can stop easier. so please attempt to. you do not want it to ruin your life.
For ways to stop, take a look at this thread. (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=190748)
do you have a close friend you can trust? or a parent or adult? if you do, talk with them. but do not cut. I am here if you want to speak.
Stay strong and safe :hug3:

Don't do it! Stop now!
Try snapping rubber bands or hair ties or even whip your arm with a belt or cord. Try that, atlest it won't leave scarrs.
Secondly find someone to talk to if you can. It helps a lot!

Hi there,
Do you know what it is that is triggering you to want to self harm? Is there something going on in your life that is making you want to harm yourself? If you don't know what your triggers are, one way to find out is by making a journal. In it, you can write down anything that is going on. Take note of the times you want to harm yourself by writing down when and where it happened, what was happening, and how you felt. Then when you're calmer you can look back and see if there are any patterns or events that may have been causing you to self harm that you can get help on or try and solve.
Try to do things to distract yourself so you don't harm yourself. Someone gave you a link to a thread with ways to stop, so you should look at that. I find writing out what's going on, whether in a creative way or just in a journal, to really help me. Art, music, or exercise have the same effect, but you'll find something that works well for you! Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error, but that effort is worth it.
Talking to people can also really help you. You can talk to a friend or family member, someone at school, a doctor, therapist, religious leader, or someone else you trust. You don't have to go through this alone and there will always be someone out there who is willing to listen and help you through this.
It's not too late for you to stop self harming, you can do this!
