What happens if a doctor sees my cuts/scars? Will he tell my parents? Will I have to go to a therapist?

If they are too obvious he/she would notice and ask you about it. If you don't want, he/she won't tell your parents because the doctors gotta keep the secret, but yeah you would probably been sent to therapy or something.

I use to just wear a shirt and not take it off. My doc didn't make me dress in a stupid gown. They tryed but I refused.

Never the less I had to have to wear a gown at one point after a bad injury unrelated to sh, they saw, my doc saw no one said a word to anyone or made me go to therapy. It was fine.

They might ask but just brush it off and be cool. Then they aren't worried. That's what I did and it was fine.

Depending on your age they will tell your parents, however, if you're over the age of consent they will keep it confidential. You have to remember they see a lot of people and it's more than likely they've seen someone with cuts before. They will only send you to a therapist if you're an immediate danger to yourself or others, they won't just get them involved without your say so. Again, depends on your age.

I had to get my blood pressure taken once while I had an arm full of fairly fresh cuts and scars, I have no idea if she either somehow didn't see it or if she chose not to question it but nothing came of it anyway. I suppose it depends on the doctor and the severity of the injury. As others have said if you are under whatever the age is where you live and it looks like you are an immediate risk to yourself they may well tell your parents.

My doctor saw my scars on my thighs when she was doing a physical, and she did have to tell my parents. Doctors are "mandatory reporters" meaning that if they have any reason to believe you are at risk of harming yourself or other people, they have to tell your parents in order to ensure you stay safe. So, it is a possibility your doctor will have to tell, but you can always ask them to keep it confidential. It won't hurt to ask, but they may have to tell anyway. They can't force you to speak with a therapist, though. This is an option that would be decided between you and your parents, but he can offer you recommendations on people you can see or ways to stop.
