when you hit puberty did your parents give you the "puberty talk"? I am just curious because it doesn't seem to happen as often anymore.

If your parents did give you the puberty talk, was it awkward, confusing? weird perhaps?

I got the talk at like ten when it was just the basics...but at like 12 my dad gave me the raw uncensored talk.

At ten it was awkward but after that it was just normal and interesting lol

Nah, my parents never gave me the talk. I pretty much learned everything on my own.

I started puberty when I was only 8 years old. My mom bought me a couple training bras and a booklet that basically said I was going to have to start wearing a bra, and I might get my period. Not why. She refused to talk about it more with me, probably because I was so young. I learned a little bit from the people around me, but I got terrified when I got discharge for the first time and stuff like that. On occasion, I would sneak onto google and look up questions, that's how I found VT, but I couldn't do it very often since my mom was only just starting to leave me home alone. When I was 11 my mom got me an iPod touch for my birthday with no parental locks or anything. I started googling stuff way more. I found porn, (a gay porn site was the very first one, and that was when I first knew what gay meant, and how I started to realize my sexuality, but that's a different story), some wrong info, etc etc etc. Finally when I was 12 my mom asked me if I knew what sex was. I said yes. She asked me to explain it to her, so I did, and she said I was right. That was it for the talk. A little bit as I got older before I came out she said some stuff about abstinence, but just a few words in passing. I wish she had just told me things when I was 8 and starting puberty, that she had answered my questions at least. For a very long time - maybe a year - I thought you could only get pregnant if you were on your period. I think this may have been a big contribution to my trust issues now - it's terrible. When I have kids, I'm going to answer all their questions the best I can and encourage them that they can ask me or tell me whatever.

Not really, I asked a few questions of this and that and got answers, I really figured everything out by myself

Only talk regarding puberty I was given was regarding the growth(that everything on my body is going to grow rapidly) and that I might have mood swings and feel confused often.

The rest - I didn't ask, my parents didn't tell, I found out on my own.

My dad kind of.
But it was really more like him asking me if I
know about this and that, and if I had any questions.

It was all up to my dad. He told me some stuff around 9 and then as I got older we talked more and was more open about everything and make it easy as hell to talk to. Was never embarrassed about anything. Im going to be the same way when have kids

no, not really. except for that one time when i was 14, i was talking to my mom about a guy i met online and how i wanted to meet him in person and she told me that as long as i used protection, she didn't care what i did. i ended up losing my virginity to someone else anyway, lol.

My mother told me that I will be having changes in my body and gave me an illustrated book about adolescence stuff and told me that if I've any question that books has the answer for everything.

My mom had the talk with me when I was 12, and then we've had some random discussions from time to time since then when situations called for it. It was awkward, but also really good too.

My mom did when I was 12.. mostly just things that complemented what I was being told already at school
