I don't pre-order and even if I did I am not a fan of next-gen so far, so no.

NOT me. I have never pre-ordered anything. Next gen consoles suck so bad I would be wasting most of my money anyway.

Next gen, console peasants will get filthier.

I haven't ever done it and probably never will. I plan to wait for the price of the Xbox One to go down after like a year of being out.

Eventually I'll probably get a ps4 but I don't find myself gaming that often anymore to be honest

I don't need to pre-order. I have a next-gen console. The Wii U is my baby for life.

Plus, no games have ever interested me in the beginning of a generation's lifespan for me to pre-order a console. So I've never pre-ordered.

Only thing I ever pre ordered was Mass effect 3. I don't want to buy a new system seeing that I got a damn good PC and Xbox 360 for now.

I love everything about the X-one. All of the technical aspects are absolutely amazing. I have preordered it, and now it's just a matter of waiting. Excuse me while I rant:

The Xbox 360, already a nice console (cheap soldering aside) was running the Unreal3 engine, which in addition to all sprites could render 100-150 independent particles on-screen without performance issues. The Unreal4 engine, on the X-one, can render up to 3000 independent particles without taking a hit to overall performance. This does take quite a bit of hardware to accomplish, but the X-one's got the hardware to make it count. It's got an octo-core processor, 8 gigs of system (shared) RAM, and built in overclocking capabilities. It's going to be running three operating systems simultaneously: Microsoft's updated Xbox OS, Windows 8 (which, eh, it's not bad), and a Linux platform that allows the two to talk to each other without performance or stability issues.

The X-one is a dreamy steamy piece of technology that I simply must have.

Were you ever concerned about the Xbox One's announced DRM policies? Just a curiosity. After hearing about how I had to be constantly connected to the internet and couldn't trade in my used games, I was immediately in the PS4's camp.

Not exactly lol, @quoted poster and Dakota.
1. I don't have a fedora
2. I don't even know what /v/ IS.
3. I used to HATE PC. The controls used to be too hard for me, I use a keyboard.
4. I still love playing older consoles. But this generation just severely dissapoints me. The Xbox One, however, more particularly. But the PS4 is really not much different than a Sony version of the Xbox 360, which was the LAST GENERATION. PC also renders graphics on a level not yet hit by consoles, as well as being the first gaming platform to support up to 64 players.

And this is why Console Peasants will only get filthier.

They rescinded that. Borrowing games is going to be exactly like it is now: give your friends the disc, and you won't need to be connected online to make it work. Now, the only reason why online is necessary is because the X-one is practically a PC, and when offline you won't be able to most of the things the X-one is capable of. Games will still work offline though. They were sweating too much about all of the readily evident negative feedback that they realize it was a marketing necessity to amend that particular bit of bad news.

I think I'll pass for a while, no point taking sides until you've really seen the full story in my opinion.

I understand that they rescinded it, and I'm glad they did. But were you ever concerned about it in the first place?

I don't plan on getting a "Next gen" console any time soon, perhaps when it is under £200 in a few years I will get a second hand one just to see what they are like. But right now I have WAY more important things I need my money for. I am not spending £350 on a console that I may not even play that much.

Not me, Im probably going to get the one but ill wait because it most likely will have some sort of hardware issue at some point.

I was for a time. I had planned to ignore the next-gen until they fixed that bit, as I was (I admit, rather stubbornly) insisting that they eventually would. I hadn't considered getting a PS4. I don't like the controller design, and there aren't any PS-exclusive game that I was particularly interested in.

Even if I wasn't a completely broke student I wouldn't bother per-ordering the new-gen consoles. Maybe in a few years when they're cheap. But for now I'm just gonna stick with my PC and X360. The PC indie market is so flooded with the creativity that AAA console developers seem to lack that I don't see anything worth bothering with.
