A Lesbianism Study

Hi All,

I read a study thing online that said that approximately 9 out of 10 girls, by the age of 18, have experimented with lesbianism. Would you lot agree with this? I know I have and majority of my female friends have joined me in this. So it wouldn't be too much of a stretch of the imagination to believe, for me at least.

I'm just curious about what other people think?

9 out of 10 seems a bit high to me. I know quite a few girls who are happy to play around with other girls but it's still only about 10-20% of the girls I know.

I don't know about other girls or percentages....all I can do is speak for myself.

I think it is Waaaay to high, more like .05 percent, guys just like to think that I think. They all have the idea that we all get naked at sleepovers and experiment, I have had lots of sleepovers and have never done anything. but have stayed up all night and gotten bellyaches from too much smore's. LOL

I think that research is way off, unless it said 9/10 have thought about fooling around with girls, which will be more believable as during our teen years, our sexuality gets mostly defined and those thoughts are common, we think about girls and boys think about fooling around with other boys.

I agree with Samantha.. I'd believe that many girls said they'd thought about it but I don't believe for a second that 9/10 girls have actually done something. I personally have kissed other girls but that's as far as I've gone.

That's waaay off. I don't know a single girl that has ever 'experimented' with another girl. However, I wonder if this study is counting actually gay girls? Cause I'm gay and (though I haven't done anything yet) if I were to kiss a girl would this study count it as 'fooling around with lesbianism'? (This word lesbianism is confusing me but I'll just roll with it)

It would depend on what they count as 'experimenting' but it does seem too high. I read an English study before that said 1 in 6 teenage girls have a 'homosexual experience'. Again they're not very specific but I'm sure a lot of people at least question their sexuality whether they physically experiment or not.

I would believe that 9 out of 10 girls are curious and have thought about it but the number that have actually done it I would guess is 3-5 out of ten.

If this study includes just kissing another girl then I can see this being true.

Without knowing which study and how the study concerned defines lesbian experimentation it would be hard to say. It does seem to me, as a guy, that it is more socially acceptable for girls to touch each other. I have seen women, in a public place, touch each others breasts. If they counts that as lebian experimentation then maybe this figure could be right. If they mean something that results in one of the girls giving the other one an orgasm then that sounds very high.

A lot of girls I know have had sex with girls. I think a lot of them would be OK with the label "experimenting." I don't label what I do. Girl partners are wonderful . That's all there is to it.
