Using a tampon

Ok so I'm 14 next year and still haven't got my period but I have really heavy discharge. My question is: is it dangerous to try a tampon now even though I haven't got my period?

Not a good idea at all, you should only ever consider using tampons when you are on your period, especially if and when your flow is heavy.

My advice would have to be for you to continue using pads (that's if you are doing so now) or pantyliners.

By the sound of things though I doubt very much that you will have to wait much longer for your period to arrive. :)

What kind of discharge are you having? Using tampons won't hurt, but if this discharge isnt your period and very irregular it will be hard to coordinate putting tampons in pre-emptively.

If this discharge is heavy but not your period, consider getting it checked out by a doctor, I can't think of any reason you would regularly have heavy discharge without being on your period.

I think you're probably just going to start your period soon. Trying tampons won't do you any harm but you should probably wait until you actually start your period to start using such things. I'd stick with pads for now.

Honestly, before I started my period(I was about 13 at the time) I tried putting on(or in; however you wanna word it.) a tampon just so I knew what to do in case it started unexpectedly. I mean as long as you don't leave it in, I don't think theres a problem with it. But that's just my opinion.

^ Don't use a tampon when not on your period. It usually specifically says that on tampon boxes. It increases you risk of getting Toxic Shock Syndrome.

Yes, the other replies have already said it really. You should never use a tampon unless you are on your period. It's not a good idea at all.
