Scanners & Ham Radios

Does anyone still use these things? I've had my scanner for about three years now and I absolutely love it. Just as I type this I'm listening in on the local fire department en route to a head-on collision with one person trapped but awake. I don't get as many transmissions out here as I did in the city, but it's still pretty amazing to hear the local force in action (and also the ocassional lonely truck driver :P).

I personally haven't used them (nor do I have much interest in using them) but I do have a friend that uses scanners, and he finds them very entertaining.

i do not have one. but i was once in a car with a friend, whos dad had one and we were listening to it. was intersting.
