Does anybody else here have it, or am I the only one?

For those who do not know that it is: It's a sensory disorder in which the microscopic receptors that are all over your skin are either underresponsive OR overresponsive, which can cause difficulty performing everyday tasks.

For Example: I'm overresponsive, which means that my tactile (or touch) sense is too active. This causes me to be extremely tickelish (you can hardly touch me and I'll start laughing), I absolutely cannot stand the feel of the bumps in my socks, the touch receptors in my fingers are overly sensitive so I shudder and feel like screaming when I touch certain things such as putting wet clothes in the dryer, touching clothes that just came out of the dryer, getting dressed while I'm all wet, or just random spams that happen when I get this indescribable tingling sensation in my hands that drive me bonkers that causes my fingers to bend into strange ways that I cannot control, and it makes me irritable unless I have something of the right texture that causes this 'inflamation' to go away.

I'm not too knowledgable in the underresponsive area though.

If you do have it, what kinds of 'remedies' do you use to get the feeling to go away?

I use: flour, the dusting flour that we have at work, I get some shortening and cove my hadns with it and play with the greasy texture, I run my hands through a bowl of assorted textured beans, smooth surfaces such as my steering wheel or the kitchen counter, etc.

Well I don't think I have Tactile Dysfunction but my hands are REALLY sensitive I cannot stand touching certain kinds of textures it makes me cringe! And like you I have to touch something smooth to get the feeling to go away, I usually touch something like metal or the refrigerator or something, Anyway I can relate.

I have problems somewhat like what your describing. I can fell pain WAY more then other people. EX: if you were to get a papercut, no big deal for a normal person. But for me, it hurts as if a knife sliced it...

I don't think theres anything you can do about it... I just learned to live with it...

Hoped this helped... (probably didn't because...well...how can this post help...?)
