Yeah, a little is kind of an understatement. I seem to have this problem at times after dinner, around 7pm until I go to bed (around 11pm) where I just keep wanting to eat and eat and eat! I think its an emotional problem. Sometimes I get anxious about classes the next day, perhaps a test tomorrow, etc. I seem to find solace in food. So, my question remains: What are some effective ways to beat this night eating? Thanks to all! :)

Fall asleep? :P I know not the best advice.. Of course the best thing to do is cure your anxiety or find some other method of relieving your stress.. Or try it the hardcore old school way, set your mind focues on other things, obviously that will be hard to do. But I have really no good advice to give you :(

Food is a powerful soother. Think of it, when you were an infant, you'd cry, and get fed. Distress+food=relax.

Two solutions for you. The first, is to find other ways to soothe yourself, address your anxiety in other ways. Maybe think about what it is exactly that's making you anxious and make a plan to deal directly with it.

Second is a little self control. Just because you want to do something, just because you have the urge to do something, doesn;t mean you have to do it. Just say no to yourself, and find those other ways to address your anxiety.

I have a tendency to do the same.. try to eat something healthy if you must eat. Like carrot sticks instead of potato chips maybe. Or drink water or fruit juice, which can be filling.
It could also be a boredom thing.. I get really bored around the same time at night and turn to food.
