I've had a hurt shoulder for a while. I got it scanned friday and i have bursitis in two places. They injected cortizone, but now it hurts worse. Does anyone know if it usual and how long cortizone takes to kick in.

Ugh, I hated cortizone injections. Obviously, your reasoning is different from mine (although mine was done in my shoulder area too) and everyone's body works differently, but mine never really worked. My first shot within a day or so had a little bit of relief, and then they gave a second one which didn't help at all, and made it worse. So basically, it might not work. Injections normally aught to work within 48 hours. I'd give it a couple days, ice it, etc. Keep in touch with your doctor too, let him/her know tomorrow how you're feeling.
Best of luck to you, shoulder pain is no fun.

I have had cortisone injections in my elbow (tennis) & yes, it does hurt worse before it gets better. Mine stated to feel better after a couple of days. For my next 2 injections, the doctor added an anesthetic to the cortisone (kind of like the stuff your dentist uses to numb your gums when filling cavities). Those two were not quite as painful at first.
It is my understanding that the cortisone is supposed to reduce the inflammation in the joint, & that can take a few days.
I hope your shoulder gets better. My elbow did, but I had to stop tennis lessons for a month while the inflammation got better.

yeah this^^ but give it a few more days, generally cortizone is hit or miss with pain , hope you get better, if cortizone had no effect what so ever your doc might consider surgery
