I told my family (my mom, sister, and dad) that I was queer (panromantic asexual) and they think it's a joke. I told them it wasn't and I gave no reason for them to think it's a joke but they are telling me that as long as I don't go "munching carpet" they don't care. So basically they're telling me that I can be whatever I want as long as it's hetero. How do I get them to understand that I am not kidding? How do I get them to understand that being with someone of a gender other than the opposite of my own is now "sinful" or "wrong"? I know those are opinions but the reasons my dad says it is wrong is because it is not natural and that reproduction requires male and female gametes so that is why relationships should be hetero.
First, it's natural for animals to be gay. It happens all the time with dolphins, dogs, fish, and birds [etc...]. Second, I can't have children and the Y chromosome of males is decreasing, so males will eventually die off so what happens then? No love whatsoever?
I've explained this to them and they don't listen to me. It's like I'm waving a huge rainbow flag in their face and they see nothing.
