View Full Version : Chrome now the worst browser?

This may be controversial, but I think chrome is now the worst browser.
When chrome first came out, it was by far the best browser out there. It was the quickest to start up and load pages and was always one of the first browsers to implement new features like drop shadows, CSS3, HTML5 etc. But now, all the browsers have caught up.
One thing I have noticed is how laggy animations are (Especially JQuery animations). Also, pages look better in other browsers. For example, I think youtube looks better on firefox then chrome which is a weird move by google. On Firefox youtube, the information is aligned centre. When you scroll down, the search bar is hidden and you are left with a navigation with a guide button, what to watch and my subscriptions buttons. Also, you can click on the guide button wherever you are on the page. When you start to scroll back up, the search bar is displayed again.
The only thing chrome is better at is starting up time. Other than that, firefox and internet explorer are actually smoother and better looking.

I have never used Internet Explorer because
my dad forbids it because he thinks its that
untrustworthy (he pays for my stuff and ISP...so)
And I rarely use Chrome. Because when I do that
little blue circle never stops spinning and it has none
of the features I like about Firefox.

Nothing beats my dear FireFox, but that youtube thing is messed up.

What exactly are you referring to?
The only thing I notice about Youtube
on Firefox is that I do not see any commercials.

Chrome looks fine to me, though it has this bug (I think it's one anyways) that annoys me to no end. In some sites the radio buttons on a non-white background has a little white box around it...as if the radio buttons aren't transparent or whatever.
But I haven't noticed the other issues. I still think Chrome's the best and won't use any other
Also, I don't get what you mean by the Youtube thing; it looks fine on Chrome and Firefox

I think anyone posting here should identify their platform.
I've been using chrome for years. Pc, mac, android, ios. It's the best in my book. There's fantastic tools built into it, account syncing cross platform, extensions, etc.
In pc or mac chrome, right click on a page and select inspect element. This is the most useful thing in the world. I know Firefox has something like this too, but I like the way chrome has pulled it off better.

I am saying youtube looks better on firefox, at least in my opinion.
I also have this bug where it crashes whenever I open facebook.
Also, it crashes all the time even though I have a really good computer.

I dont have a phone, but i've tried firefox mobile and it's a lot faster than chrome.
But I also love the inspect element tool :) It's great for making reddit style sheets.
I would also like to add that Mozilla Firefox is a non-profit organization :)

Chrome works fine for me, and youtube works perfectly find as well. I have firefox, and dont notice any difference between the 2. The one major thing though is Chrome is a memory sucker, you have to clear the cache once a day for it to work faster.

Also, chrome doesn't have smooth scrolling! Why wouldn't they add that?

I was never really a fan of chrome, and yes, browsers are catching up (except Safari cause apple sucks) but at least it still works.

I will always prefer the reliable Internet Explorer. Because chrome has shit I don't like. On my phone, though, I sometimes end up using chrome because IE doesn't work sometimes for some odd reason...

For me it's actually been more reliable, particularly in the area of the page not being fucked up. Chrome always displays the fonts weirdly and Firefox is... Okay I guess but I just don't like using it. (This is more of an opinion than anything)

Got to agree. I used to hate IE but now it displays pages great and chrome always crashes (Especially facebook and flash).

Windows 7, and it's probably just an issue with your computer, because chrome in my opinion is still the best.

Interesting. Internet Exploder never works for me, as it screws things up more often than not.
However, it does excel at one task: that is, obtaining another, proper browser.

As someone who makes a living developing web applications, I have always used Firefox as the primary web browser, mainly due to its fantastic 'Web Developer' assisting tools.
At my college, though, Chrome's set to be the first web browser by default, so I've used the most recent versions of Chrome, too.
To be honest, I have not quite noticed the problems that you said you've encountered in Chrome. As comfortable as I feel using Firefox, I still can't deny how quick Chrome is, and it still feels like a super 'light' application that goes easy on your CPU, etc.
If you feel the issues you mentioned are getting annoyingly out of control, try re-installing Chrome. The temporary files that the update system leaves behind may be slowing you down a bit. Not sure if it'll work, but just thought I'd give it a shot.

I noticed it became a little slower, and I liked the look of Firefox better, so now I'm using that.

Chrome doesn't become the worst browser simply because a few people are having issues with it, of course.
Chrome is a fast, highly compliant web browser that is built on Webkit (the Apple led project that also sits behind Safari). Web browser performance is rarely best measured by human estimation, and if you run Chrome against the various online rendering speed (not bandwidth speed tests like speedtest.net) tests, how fast Chrome actually is will quickly become apparent.
As for IE, it has indeed improved quite a bit in the last few versions. Unfortunately, it still has quirks and still lags behind. It has improved, but web developers haven't stopped hating it just yet. :p

I've never had any of the problems some of you say about Chrome. The only problem I've had with chrome was flash crashing but it never does that anymore. I use firefox on my laptop and just as fast. But I'll never use internet explore (except to download chrome or firefox) because it's always been slow for me.

I agree that Chrome is going downhill. It uses too much damn memory, and for my Win7 PC which only has 2 GB of RAM, it's not a good choice. I actually don't mind IE. Well, IE10, that is. It actually works pretty well, for me, at least

I used to use Chrome, then It eventually kept having issues to the point that I had to give up and go with Firefox. I guess I'm having issues with Firefox because I'm low on memory, but that's another post for another time.

That's because chrome treats each tab as a separate process which is why when one tab craahea , the whole of chrome doesn't crash.

Try re downloading it, or you may just need to force update it. That never happened to me. If that doesn't work, it may be a bug on your computer, or chrome may not even work on your computer. To me, Chrome is the best, and the only one I use. I would only use firefox as a second, and IE as a third. IE just plain sucks, and firefox is good, but I prefer Chrome the best.

It's 50-50. Chrome is good in the fact that it has a good interface that has a clean design. However, it's also very shitty in security. You click the wrong thing, or even unclick, and your passwords will be automatically saved. DERP

While I don't mind Chrome, I've transitioned back to Safari as my primary browser (except on my desktop); I just find that Safari sync's better for my purposes. It also has better integration with the multi touch gestures on my MacBook Pro and iPod touch.

Internet Explorer has the reliability equivalence of a black man surviving a horror movie.
Chrome has always been my browser of choice. Firefox, while a really good browser, often takes a while for me to boot and has an installation process slower than Chrome. Chrome's extensions are fantastic and never give me any trouble.
However, I can not say that Chrome is the best because I haven't really checked up with other browsers and how they've improved. But, I will stick with Chrome because I enjoy it.

actually waterfox is faster just a lil bit . torch is really good .combination of chrome and firefox . and IE 11 is actually really fast .. I have a lot of experience with browsers and I can say that
Waterfox.cyberfox ,aurora, torch, firefox and chrome are the fastest ones .
the others like IE11 or 10 are pretty fast, but that's about it . opera is good ..but sucks on ad blocking and not that fast .sea monkey is really annoying , safari just completely sucks . the rest are uhm fine if u don't play any browser games or watch movies or vids

Chrome sucks, but I still use it for incognito mode (I hate private browsing on Safari).
Safari loads in about 1 second on my laptop and about 5 seconds on my desktop. However, Chrome takes about 5 seconds on my laptop and 40 seconds on my desktop. It's so slow in comparison.
Also, Chrome doesn't have anything the other browsers have, in fact, it has less than Safari (hence why I use Safari over anything else)

I've never used chrome due to the fact that I don't like it and its easy far too easy to uncover a saved password. I've always used internet explorer, now I've got win 8 the internet explorer is nice and fast. I've always used internet explorer. I don't use firefox purely as its too slow on any pc. And I don't like the adobe flash player for it. You can be playing a game on FB like Bejewled blitz and its a bit laggy. The thing is, the pc's perfectly fine. I just avoid firefox.
