I often find that female vocalists are quite boring in metal bands, it's not that the vocals are boring, it's just that the music is often uninteresting to listen to. Not many bands try to have an interesting sound to go with the vocals.
While it's not to my liking you might enjoy a band called Omega Lithium.

There are some metal bands however, that implement female vocals quite well, in fact I found the female vocals in Bring Me The Horizon's "There Is A Hell..." album worked well especially in the song "Crucify Me".
There is a Japanese electronic/metal band called Blood Stain Child who have female vocals which are alright...

There's also a new British band on the scene that feature a rather unique female vocalist...

Like I said, not many bands are willing to have a female vocalist combined with unique interesting music.

Ahhh see this I have an opinion on. I don't like female fronted rock and metal bands. I don't find them to have the same raw, gritty voices as male leads do and I tend not to branch into the female bands, I'm quite happy with the men xD I often find women can't scream as well as guys can either. The only female vocalist I like is Jen Ledger in Skillet and she is mostly just backing and only has a couple of leads in songs on their newest album. Yeah I'm pretty closed minded when it comes to female lead singers so feel free to shout at me if you want.

"Nightwish" is an exceptionally beautimus band.. A bit old but I adore the vocals in their older albums. Their original lead singer split off to join another band (the name of which evades me atm :3. So the band found a new one, she "alright", though I would choose the older songs any day.

just to clear it up, tarja turunen didn't join another band. she started a solo career.
I can't wait to hear Nightwish's new album with Jansen. TBH, with her, they might have a chance at going back toward the older stuff. but tbh, idc if they don't.
but yea, i like female vocals. too many to list :P
