I am thinking of asking this one girl out but I'm clueless when it comes to dates... What did you do, or would like to have done for a first date?

My first date was me and my current girlfriend went to a Holiday gas station convenience store and I got me a 12 ounce Redbull and her a Mountain dew. It was not anything special. Total cost was $4.96.

yeah I think this would be the coolest. take her to a concert that you'd both enjoy and then have a light casual dinner afterwards. That way you have something to talk about at dinner since first dates can sometimes be awkward

A dinner is a good idea, coffee etc
NEVER do a movie for a first date,
you can't really get to know a person this way
and if your planning on just kissing,
theres no real point in going to the movies.
Some place that you can have a talk,
get to know either other.
Don't just let her ramble about herself,
make sure you let her know somethings about you too
so it's not awkward and you guys don't run out of things
to talk about..
Goodluck :)

I would suggest that you have dinner before the concert, they usually end a bit late

Lol, my first actual date, I was 17 and I took her to Cheesecake Factory and then we went to the beach and talked for about three hours. It wasn't awkward at all lol.

One of my first dates we went to a park, walked around, talked, swung on the swings, rolled down hills- it was fun.

My first date was the awkwardest thing ever because we were too shy to talk. Keep the conversation going, relax, and be yourself.

My first date was at a pizza place, good stuff. A movie or a place to eat are probably basic and typical, but efficient places for a 1st date.

As much as people say that movies are overused and such, well they are like that because they work really well. If you know the girl a bit already and you are worried about it being awkward then this is definitely the way to go. Also pay/or if she won't let you then decide on something, and bring something like Maltesers, works a treat when you decide to be romantic and put them in her mouth ;)

Thanks for all the good advice! I guess one of the major problems I have is I am too shy around girls I like and I don't talk much to begin with...I don't really know what to talk about for extended periods of time. Any suggestions there?

Usually a good conversation will carry itself, and you will keep on coming up with new things to say based on what the other person says. If the conversation runs dry, just pick it up again. Talk about you interests, and ask about hers. If you know any activities she is involved in, bring those up.

A good conversationalist is one who can listen and then use their words, turn them back around and ask questions from them, let her do the talking and it will look good on you.

If school dances count, then yes. But I don't exactly count them. So I guess I'll say I've never been on a proper date.

I'd love going for a walk as my first date.
Something about it just appeals to me, especially on a sunny day in the evening.
