Why do girls call their boyfriends only "bae"?

I see girls call their boyfriend "bae" but there is unbelievable amount who hide their other guys with that term. "Bae said he don't like her" smh. On Facebook or any social network, girls use bae in every sentence. No boyfriend no baby just bae lol
