ok, i go to a baptist church and i masturbate. the bible talks about how its wrong to have sex before marriage and not to have lustful experiences with a married person and also cheating on your someone, but it doesn't specifically mention masturbation. i think its perfectly ok to releive yourself of sexual tension and i don't think there is anything wrong with it.

Purely thinking about it on the most basic of levels.... would they rather have us all having sex or being so sexually frustrated that we do things we wouldn't (or shouldn't) normally do? Just my own opinion but I think that with such a NATURAL desire for sex God would be much happier that we "take care of ourselves" in order to stay pure; as for the argument of "wasting seed" everyone knows that it WILL NOT make us "run out" and even if we DON'T masturbate we'll just have a wetdream to get rid of it anyway. I mean... health wise it's GOOD for us (concerning the whole prostate cancer thing). So... um yeah lol go masturbation! :D

Somewhere in Matthew, it states that if you murder in your heart, to God, you murder. If you immagine adultery in your mind, you commit adultery in Gods eyes. But, if you do not think about a married person or someone betrothed, is it not adultery. So, masturbation is not adultery, thus, not a sin... maybe a sin with lust though, not sure.

Ok he's not married so you can't say its adultery.

no, but the point is that it would be adultery to think about a married person in a lustful way.

lol that is ridiculous
there is a difference between committing adultery and just thinking about it.
thinking about someone is just sexual desire, if he actually had sex with a woman who was married then it is adultery. dont get ur shit mixed up and confusing the poor kid.

In some extreme religions yes but the baptist church has nothing against it.

I suppose everyone has to make their own decision about these things, but let me add my $.02.
First, I always though that in order for something to be 'sinful' somebody has to get hurt. That was the point in making labelling something that way, it was to protect, maybe by giving the person a moment to contemplate the act beforehand. Guilt will do that, it gives pause.
Nobody gets hurt thru masturbation. Everybody does it, it's a biological drive. Like sweating and blinking and hunger. If you believe that the Almighty gave us those drives and urges, and it's ok to sweat when it's hot out, or blink when dust gets in your eye, or eat when you're hungry, then why would it be any different if you masturbate when you're horny?
Whatever you choose, whatever way you decide to relieve sexual tension or otherwise deal with it, the important thing is to not confuse the act of masturbation (which you may or may not judge as acceptable), with the underlying sexual drive (which is natural and you have no control over). Choosing to not masturbate is fine, but not at the expense of discarding/dismissing or otherwise judging your sexuality as 'wrong'. At some point in your life, you'll find it very handy.

I to am a baptist. But I do not believe that it is wrong to masterbate. I have studied many parts of the Bible, but unfortunatly this was not around when it was written, but the Bible does say this, if you think it is a sin then u should not commit it
