Just try facing the opposite way of people, and if possible, face a corner. If thats not possible then just either leave to play it off as nothing, depending on your age you could just blame it on puberty.

this happens to me a lot, but the showers are mainly locker room showers comprised of mainly my friends (or at least acquaintances), so I don't really feel the need to hide it. Just know that it's very normal and common for this to occur, so don't worry about it. Everyone else in the shower I'm sure knows this too and I'm sure this has happened to them as well. Just keep to yourself if you're uncomfortable and keep facing the wall. Most people won't bother you.

I've only been in two public showers naked and they were at two sailing clubs I go to, only people I know have been in there at the same time as me, in one the only other person was about 9-10 and I was 13-14 and he was staring, I didn't get erect and the other one I've only ever been in naked alone, if I got an erection I would tense any muscle for sixty seconds and it would go away

ive fortunately never experienced one at public showers.
Certainly, cold water remains one of the best alternatives in those critical and embarrassing situation.
Cold water will cause the temperature of the penis and body to drop which results in vasoconstriction to take place to reduce excessive body heat loss.
As a result, less blood will flow to the penis and obviously, the boner will shrink.
