As the son of a Pediatrician (as well as experiencing this myself), I'll explain it as best to my knowledge. Mainly, they touch your pelvic area, not necassarily your penis. If they did, you might have some family history of muscular diseases or you may be at risk. Or sometimes when they're not sure, they go ahead and check anyway. I assure you, having an erection whilst receiving the physical is very very normal, too. As for your final question, the examination of your penis can last anywhere from 5 seconds to 45 seconds normally. Anything beyond this is usually due to the patient not cooperating well, whether intentionally or not intentionally. If you don't follow instruction, it will take more time to examine you. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. I'm certain this doctor has seen many many penises and yours won't be the last. (s)he's not there to judge you :p

Testicle exams are very thorough and erections during them are common.

it shows them youre a healthy teenage boy. doctors know that all it takes for a teenager to get an erection is for the wind to change so they would probably be expecting you to have one, if you did not they might think there was something dysfunctional down there. it is only natural for a boy to get hard when someone touches him down there and they would know that better than anyone :)

If something is uncomfortable - it may be you just felt so weird it SEEMED to take longer than it did.
next time you will be ok -
My foreskin kinda got tight at puberty so I had to get examined a few times -

In most physicals the doctor has to check you out down there, and it is not uncommon for the doctor to check out a person's privates especially for things like hernias and testicular abnormalities. Short of your doctor doing something inappropriate with you I am guessing the amount of time he/she spent down there was normal. I am sure you were just uncomfortable with the whole process which is why things seemed a lot longer than it actually was. With guys in puberty there's a lot to check down there especially if you're uncut.
As for getting a boner, it's fine, and a lot of guys get boners when they're touched down there. You are hardly abnormal.

How long was too long? It was probably shorter than you think. Don't worry about the boner. You won't have been the first!

As i have played lots of sports since I was 10, I have received my fair share of exams and as you get older, the more thorough they get as you develop and are at more risk of injury and stuff. I cant remember a time that I didn't get a erection in some state. Our sports program requires monthly examinations to keep up on possible injuries and stuff. It personally doesn't bother me at all. My dad use to come in the room with me until i was about 12-13 and then he stopped at my request.

Alright.
Well, first of all, when you are nervous or anxious, things seem to happen a lot slower. Therefore, he may have only touched you for a second but to you it seemed much longer.
Second, since he is feeling to make sure that there are no bumps or other growths, he may have double checked and felt a little bit longer to make sure that there was nothing going on.
So, I would no worry about it! Also, boners are common so that is not a big deal either.

I really wouldn't worry. It is all part of their check. I think everyone gets a boner in a physical and i think u were just extending the time in ur head cuz u weren't happy with his hand down there. It normally takes about a minute to fully check down there. Better safe then sorry.

The doctor has you stop naked. He/she checks your penis balls and pubic hair

If you have foreskin the doctor is going to take longer examining it than if you don't (know this since I've been both) and yeah it's awkward but at least you know that it is healthy. I had a boner for one of mine too.

It's normal to get a boner, as there was contact down there - don't worry. And it probably felt a lot longer than it really was

This procedure is normal...In mine I was asked to take off my tee and undershirt at the begininng. Then after he was done with chest exam he got me to take off my jeans and lie on the exam bed in my briefs...then he examined my abdomen and at the end he got the nurse to pull my briefs to my mid thigh level, examined groins for hernia, examined my testicles and finished by examining my rectum....I did not have a boner and this was pretty normal.
