Just wondering, how do you define a hookup?

Is it when two people have sex?
Or
Is it when two people make out?
Or
Is it something else?

Jw because I always hear my friends say hookup and I say it's a wrong use because I believe a hookup is sex so yeah.

junior& senior year- mainly make out+ bj

adult- full on sex

Me too. "Hooked up" is like my generic phrase for everything. Sex, makeouts, dates, all that.
