My mom is in jail for six months this weird, I have talked to my on the phone while she is there and for some reason I feel more comfortable being open with her about anything now then when she was actually here. Any reason why I would feel that way now? I had a good relationship before she went

Not having privacy when you have chances to talk to her is the thing you have to get used to, I guess. Start off by talking about light topics and see if that makes things more relaxed to continue.

There are lots of reasons.
1. She is behind jail, you are missing her and want to talk to her as much as possible.
2. There might be slight fear involved, like if you told her stuff, you might be afraid something might happen, but now shes in jail and nothing really can happen.
The first one is probably the top reason. So continue being open with her. You love her, and she loves you, she wants to talk to you. She's there for you.

You want to tell her you love her and show it. Before there may have been some fear with telling her things and pouring your heart out, but now you are safe and away from her. It is easier talking over the phone or writing than talking face to face in general as well. Don't worry about it, and be glad that you can talk to her and she loves you and you love her.
