Just curious to see if anyone in here has chewed before, or is currently chewing. I occasionally chew, and I don't really see the problem with it. I don't do it very often, so I'm not addicted to it or anything, and I normally do it in small portions. I only have done it around friends and some of my family. Should I feel guilty for doing it, because in all honesty, I don't.

You shouldn't feel guilty, its not really anything serious.

No, I wouldn't feel guilty. It's not like it's illegal or anything. My uncle chews tobacco in front of everyone and I honestly prefer it over someone smoking around me. It just never really bothers me.

I wouldn't feel guilty for chewing since there is nothing morally wrong with tobacco.

Personally, I would not chew if I were you because chewing tobacco is nasty stuff. What I mean is over the long term chewing tobacco messes up big time with your teeth, and by the time you're older there is no question you might be having a lot of serious, expensive, and painful dental issues. If you can, then you're best bet is to chew gum and not tobacco. From a dental perspective nothing good can come from chewing tobacco because that stuff rots your teeth gradually (http://www.fda.gov/TobaccoProducts/ProtectingKidsfromTobacco/FlavoredTobacco/ucm183196.htm). Don't go down the road of getting gum and dental disease, and I would give up snuff if I were you.

If he truly only does it on occasion then he shouldn't have that problem

I agree with Second Chance that you shouldn't feel guilty about chewing.
It is nasty stuff and I hope you aren't like my neighbor. He lets the juices leak out of the corners of his mouth and spits where ever he wants to he doesn't care if you are walking there or not.
yes it causes dental and other problems. My Grandfathers friend basically has no jaw left and has throat cancer from chewing tobacco.
Personally I wouldn't chew but thats me.

There's no reason to feel guilty about it, it's not wrong, just not nessicarily healthy. But, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, as long as you're okay with it.

For someone who's 15 (like the OP), it is illegal to use tobacco products, including chewing tobacco. I'm assuming your uncle is over 18 years old, so for him it may not be smart, but it's perfectly legal.
To the OP: Just don't use any type of tobacco products man, whether that be smoking or chewing. Chew still causes serious harm to your mouth and gums. Do you want to be wearing dentures and not have a single natural tooth left in your mouth by the time your 40?
Just stop doing it man!

I chewed for a couple years, now I just smoke (trying to quit) but when I'm at a ball game I enjoy a good dip.

If you aren't bothering anyone with it, then don't feel bad. I smoked ciggs (not the same, but still) and while I didn't feel bad about that.

Just to give my 2 cents, chew is nasty, and it would be a good idea to stop while you can. Same with ciggs.

theres absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. if you enjoy it then by all means do what you enjoy. i have been chewing for nearly 17 years, i started when i was about 14 yrs old. the only time i ever felt guilty was when i would chew in school and spit on the floors or in peoples lockers, or other kids school books lol. just be careful because it is very addictive even more so than cig's.
