I have just been in an argument with both my parents over nothing. I am very, very angry at them both but really need to talk to them about getting some help with some problems I have. But every time i go near them I just lose my rag and end up in an argument even though i was only trying to get help. I need to clam down around them, How do you guys calm down when your angry or upset with someone?

This is something I do. I take a couple 5 pound weights, one in each hand, and jab at the air. I don't SWING I JAB, that means bringing your fist FORWARD AND BACK not AROUND.

I used to have really bad anger issues, I punched walls and windows and smash things because of it. Ended up breaking my knuckles more times than I can count. Then I realise, why should I waste my valuable emotions and feelings over this when I can use them for something positive, that's when I started meditation and basically sitting down on my own in a quiet place (even out of the house, that can help too) and just focused on my breathing. Now, that's whatever I do when I get angry and I haven't lashed out in quite awhile. Talking about it with the people who have made you feel this emotion and feelings is also a good way to overcome them, as much as you don't want to do that. The hardest things are usually the best way to deal with it.

Exercise!!!! Do what ever physical activity. I like my gymnastics and karate classes for this. Good release of anger!
I was the same as kryptonite. I would smash stuff and punch things and break doors windows walls what ever. I'm still working on it but intense workouts help me a lot!

I'm glad kryptonite posted that. I thought I was the only girl who ever did that or had anger problems lol. Now I know I'm not alone

I'm glad you posted that about. Your self. I have the same problems (still working on it tho) and iI thought I was the only girl who got angry like that. People always told me girls have to be sweet and submissive. Which would just tick me off more as I am neither of the two and I can't make my self be that. So I'm glad I'm not the only one. Lol

Thanks for sharing!

What the others said are good ideas. Get the anger out before you want to talk, it helps (I've had fleeting moments of anger and pretended to scream, but without making any noise. It helped).
