Do any of you get distracted while doing homework? I do and was wondering what you do to get back on track. I have roughly 4-5 hours of homework a night and need my sleep.

Thx

I do, and surprisingly listening to music helps. Taking periodic breaks can also help, but you need to make sure you don't go longer than you told yourself you would (Like 5 minute break every 20 minutes of homework).

Thanks! I have listened to music in the past but then I end up just thinking "Do I know the lyrics to this song?" and it too gets me off track

I do, because I do homework right next to my computer and can take up to 6 hours doing it. My trick is to sit down at a decently isolated place (like the dinner table or one of the tables near my building's pool) where I can concentrate solely on the homework, then I will take much less.

Yep. It's so bad, that I have a 504 plan and I have to go to the library after school.

It happens unfortunately.
But when I decide to give my best, there's almost nothing to stop me!

I do. usually because of people doing stuff around me so i need to know what they are doing and where they are at any given time, or my mind.

All the time. My phone or the internet or sometimes i just spontaneously stop doing homework and walk somewhere.

I procrastinate, but once I do it I'm doing it. Music always helps focus, but only if it's specific types. I really don't have issues since I started paying for my education lol. I used to never turn anything in during secondary and now I've yet to have a late assignment.

Yes, mostly from my mind. It used to be a lot worse 3 years ago, would stretch out homework time by 2 hours sometimes.
I can remind myself of the homework at hand and/or listen to music to help.

All the time. I have no idea how to cope with it and it's stressing me out beyond belief.

I get distracted easily but putting headphones on and listening to music helps me focus.

Can't get distracted from homework if you procrastinate.

I find it impossible to focus on homework and I generally do half in the evening and half when I get into school in the morning or at lunch.

I can't concentrate on anything I don't enjoy. At all.

So yes, when I used to get homework on a subject I didn't enjoy, I simply couldn't do it to a good standard, no matter how hard I tried/wanted to.

And for those who are curious.. I passed all but 2 of my exams at school because the importance of the exam overwhelmed the lack of concentration :P

You need to get yourself in a distraction free environment... This environment can be what ever lets you focus on your work, (Steve Jobs for example, painted his entire office white, so he would`nt have any distractions).

Music does help for some...but I find only instrumental music. If it has lyrics, you will focus on them and not on your work. White noise actually helps very much.

Absolutely. I have to get off the computer (unless I am typing something) while I am doing homework. Otherwise I will get so distracted that it won't get fully done or it will be junk.

I get distracted sometimes, but I'll either turn off my phone so I don't get texts or give my phone to my mom and sit in the kitchen to do the work so there are no distractions. If there is anything to do on the computer I try and remember that the sooner I get it done, the sooner I can actually do fun stuff on it.
