I'm just curious as to what people have learned in SexEd classes at school. In my school, they teach about what can happen...things like STD's and diseases and babies, etc, etc. I want to know what other schools taught. Do they teach what takes place during sex? Are pictures shown? Were the classes awkward???

Eh, when you get the sex ed talk in gym class it just gets old. Super awkward when your younger like in middle school, but otherwise it just stops phasing you all together. For us it was looking at diagrams and looking at a babies 9 month journey, etc. And no they didn't show it actually happening in any way, just explained it I guess.

In PE they just told us, "your body is changing" and how to handle it and what to expect

In health class, we went over a bit what happens in straight sex, how the genitals work, and we saw a video of birth.

Well we did it when we were 9/10 and then again when we were 11/12 and 13/14, 9/10 was about puberty and what happens in sex and they showed us a cartoon and split the boys and the girls and we were allowed to ask any questions we wanted about our bodies and they told us about masturbation, these were special time taken out of the day for a few days over one term. In 11/12 we looked at the scientific point of view and learnt about the organs and conception and stuff, that was in science lessons. Then 13/14 we learnt about conception and that was in R.E.

Puberty for Boys  Education and Careers

While I understand why you've placed this here. I think given the exact nature of the question then this forum is more appropriate.

Since the Scottish education system is different from the rest of the world and is quite confusing to explain. I'll just use age.

During my last year of primary school when I was 11 I think we got taught what sex was. Shockingly enough by age of 11 most of us, if not all of us knew what it was.

Then all throughout high school we got taught a lot of sex ed and had many videos/talks about diseases and other problems that can occur if you engage in sex. So for the most part we had quite a lot of sex ed at school.

It is basically concentrated on STDs and teenage pregnancy which I opine is useful.

At primary school we saw two naked people with a naked child. We did a bit last year about how it cums around (get it?!) !!!!

So glad I've never been to a sex ed class. As far as I can tell, online school doesn't do that. My mom sort of had 'the talk' when I was 12, but it was too late since I already knew everything, and it was awkward because it was before I came out and she told me about straight sex. More specifically, how babies are made. Very little about STDs or pregnancy, but it was there. Nothing on masturbating or sex for pleasure other than having kids- though to be honest I think that was the only time my parents would have sex a little while after they got married, though, my mom got pregnant in college with my brother (technically half brother).

The class was called Health for my school district.

We just learned about STDs, diseases, the human body, health (duh). But nothing...um sexual...like what sex-ed would normally teach.... I've never had "The talk" from my parents. Not exactly sure why but it was probably because I never once showed interest in a boy or never been in a relationship so they didn't have to worry.

I remember in Grades 5 and 6 there was just a short time on where we were basically taught "your body is changing, now learn a bit more about the reproductive system".

Then since Grade 7 there's a short time in some classes made for Health (all I know is that last year in Grade 9 it was part of my Gym class) which basically teaches us about protective methods and about puberty and all that.

Every year we have to watch the same dvd we watched in the last year of primary school. It was only this year that we learnt a bit about condoms, and we did the reproductive system in science. I was disappointed by the fact that they said absolutely nothing about protection for same sex relations which could be dangerous to some gay people in our school. I know gay people who think they can't get STDs.

Well, I went to a Christian school, so they pretty much just told me to ask my parents. Which I didn't. Everything that I know I found out on my own.

That was my experience for SexEd right there. But by then everybody knew what SexEd was about (9th Grade) It only got awkward when the teacher started to talk about porn and how even though we can delete it from our history, its still there.

I had health earlier today and we were looking at teenage body development , keeping in mind i'm in a grade 8 health class and i don't think i'll need to worry about std's anytime soon.

My current school's sex ed sucks and was during a single class in a single year. They said nothing.

My dad's company does have some events where the kids of the employees can go and they will warn us about stuff like STDs and teach us a little sex ed. Cause my dad's company is awesome.

In middle school, our science classes would teach sex the last week of school. We learned about STDs, birth control, female and male anatomy, drugs, and in 8th grade we watched a video of a woman give birth. In high school we just have a mandatory Health class that we have to take sometime in our 4 years.

We saw scientific diagrams and talked about the basics. It didn't help that my Sex Ed teacher was a total hottie (even though we couldn't reproduce).

First few years of it its kind of awkward but people get over it by highschool. Only strange thing ive experienced was in highschool when we saw a woman give birth and that shit scarred me and my friends (guys and girls) for life.
