So, I would really like to share my story on how I came out. It was definitely something that changed my life, and I want to know if anyone had any stories that are similar.
I'm gay, and I've known since I was 10; six years ago. I kept it to myself and didn't mention a single word to anyone else for the longest time. Two nights before New Years of 2011, I came out to my cousin, and she was the first person I told. She was 100% accepting, and I would talk to her about guys and crushes for the longest time.
In the summer of 2011, a rumour was going around that I asked some guy out. It wasn't true, but that pretty much opened everyone up to me being gay, or at least bisexual. I started going out with a guy (who I'm still close with now) that September, and put it on Facebook the day after. That was when I officially came out, and you could say that it wasn't too much of a shock to people, because of that rumour. Although I was upset over something being spread about me, I do like the fact that in a way, it helped my experience be less extreme than it could have been.
Yeah, that's my story! It was something that I couldn't imagine me doing, and when I did I still thought to myself days after, "Did I seriously do that?" If anyone else had an experience similar to mine, feel free to share! c:
