Lately after I'm done masturbating, I feel really guilty sometimes to the point of wanting to cry.. So I usually just try and fall asleep and then I feel better the next morning after a good nights rest! Plus I never have any weird dreams and sleep like a baby afterwards! Why do I feel guilty when it makes me feel so good and there's no danger of catching an STD or getting pregnant? Do you feel guilty afterwards? Can you go about your day after you're done? How often do you masturbate? Always alone, or sometimes with friends? I realize this is a ton of questions but I'm really confused about it.. I can never face the world afterwards.. Guilt comes because someone told you it's a bad thing. Actually sexuality and pleasure is normal, without it you wouldn't even exist. Yeah for some reason in your life someone told you its bad - but its not bad at all! :) you should not feel the slightest bit guilty - enjoy your body! It does help me sleep at night, but in the morning (now :P) it helps me concentrate on other things when I'm done.

I wouldn't worry about it. Like some others have said its more common to feel that way when youre younger or new to it and that goes away as you get older.

Plus I read that because an orgasm is such a big release its natural to feel a bit "down" right after. Some people just feel that as super relaxed but if you have some guilt about it anyway probably not a big surprise that you fee more guilty about it then.

When I was younger I sometimes felt sort of guilty afterwards. But never ever to the point that I had to cry. More like a bad thought maybe. Today I can just go on with life after having finished. Since I do it at least three times a day I'd have some real issues if I couldn't :D If masturbation makes you cry and depressed you might as well just take some time off (i.e. not masturbate for some time) or talk to a good friend about it.

I don't feel "guilty", I just feel pretty lackluster and blah. Even if I orgasm. Masturbation just isn't pleasurable for me like sex is, even though I've never orgasmed during sex. I'd rather be making love to my partner than just fooling around with myself. It feels great while it's happening, but in the end it never feels worth it, unlike sex.

Guilt usually comes from feeling like you're doing something wrong. It could also come from sexual abuse, or it could just be hormones. I wouldn't worry all that much about it if you still enjoy masturbation. It'll probably pass. If it doesn't, you might want to see a therapist or a gynecologist about it. (preferably a therapist, because gynecologists just deal with your parts, and if something has happened to you they won't really be able to help.) If you like masturbating, it shouldn't have those after effects.
