View Full Version : keep pad from crackling

So it's getting to be the time of month where I start wearing a pad just in case, in addition to always having one in my purse. But oh my god, these things are so loud!! I take a step- *crackle*. Wearing two pairs of underwear helps a little bit (I do it anyways for extra support so it doesn't feel loose). And purposely moving it around and stuff helps a little bit. But does anyone have a better solution?
Thank you!

Maybe you can try smaller or thinner pads

Dude, tampons are the way to go.

I'm wearing a very small and thin pad. It's tiny.

My mom doesn't let me wear tampons, she says I'm too young, which is total BS. Besides, I haven't gotten my period yet, I'm just protecting myself in case I do get it. I haven't quite had it for two years yet, and I'm not 14 for a few more weeks. I'm young and it can be pretty irregular, I don't have any specific date I know I'm going to get it, I have to be careful. I'm trying to sneak some tampons in the house behind my mom's back but I can't drive or anything so I don't know where I can get a bag, there's a tiny convenience store up the street that sells individual ones sometimes but there aren't different kinds or anything to choose from, I have no idea what kind they are.

Im sorry but I have to say this be GLAD you don't have your period yet I remember the first time I got mine I was in the grocery store!!! It was so odd... But it will happen, oh and only you can hear that. I don't know how to explain if, the only reason someone would hear that is if there face was near your' butt! Good Luck

From what I gather she has got her cycle but its not regular.

As far as the noise make sure to press it down really well that helps some.

Honestly, I'm really sure you're the only one who can hear the sounds, probably because you're listening for them. What kind of pads do you use, or are you using pantiliners? Maybe try finding the thinnest ones you can, or ones with the little wings to hold them in place.

Also, tampons are so much more comfortable, if you can get them. They are so much more discreet and convenient, and you can do anything while wearing them. Maybe consider switching, or at least trying them out?

Use thinner ones. Like ultra thin regulars. Or the puffy ones work BC they dontnmake so much noise but are more uncomfortable.

If your just protecting then liners are very good. Just check often so you don't over flow. Happend to me in gym. Didn't bring a backup and had to go home and explain the whole office y. Lol embarrassing!

Like I said before, I'm not allowed to wear tampons. I have ultra thin pads.

My mom is... complicated. I can't wear tampons. I can have one bag of pads, no pantiliners or anything else, it's a waste of money. So therefore since I have to sleep in them I usually get the overnight pads. Because of that they're usually really thick and long. Right now I have ultra thin nighttime.

Like someone else said, it probably sounds worse than it is. Try different brands and such, tell your mum they're irritating you and that you want to try some different ones if she asks. With all the noise that goes on in every day life I seriously doubt anyone will hear it :)

You've really got to look around for a brand you like. Pads are generally uncomfortable though, when you turn 14 you should consider asking your mom about tampons again.

I was walking up the stairs yesterday and my sis said "What is that?" I said "What?" And she said "Oh, that must be your pad! Why is it so loud? You are wearing a pad, right?"

some girls may not be able to use a tampon if they still have their hymen.

Maybe try moving it around a bit, to try and find a spot where it fits best. Do the pads that you're using have those little wings to hold them in place? I can imagine that those might help. Either way, I really hope that you find a solution!

It shouldn't make that sound. If it does then it mostly likely the wrong size .try a smaller one

I don't still have my hymen. I'm not asking about tampons.

Yes they have wings.

It's pretty short, and for some reason when I get my period it goes everywhere and I often have to wear extra-long.

Recently I've been putting it in my crack and clenching my butt.. that helps but it's not too comfortable.
