Went to the doctors today with a letter explaining how I'm feeling lately and I've been put on a low dose of citalopram to see how it goes, have to go back in two weeks to see if I need anything stronger. Here's hoping it's the start of my proper recovery, not looking forward to possible nausea but hopefully it'll be fine.

Good luck, it's an SSRI (selective serotonin). Serotonin is known as one of the brain's "happy" chemicals.

I was prescribed citalopram about two years ago, and took it for about a year and a half. It basically saved my life. I hope it works for you as well.
The side effects were bad for the first few weeks, but if you can get through those, they greatly diminish. The nausea was by far the worst side effect for me.
I hope it works for you. The side effects will get better over time. Hopefully your recovery will go well.

I was on Celexa which is basically the same thing.
It gave me belly aches where I was doubling over sometimes
and made me rock back and forth a lot more (autism trait)
but all that subsided in time.
I believe it straightened me out pretty good in the
long run. As a matter of fact in my case it eventually began to
work too well, like I was becoming too happy, so they weened me off it.
I haven't had any relapse so far.
