Is anyone here (or previoisly was) in the IB (11th-12th grade) or pre-IB (9th-10th)? I am planning on doing these, but I had a few questions.

How stressful is it really? I'm constantly hearing about how stressful it is, and most people can't handle it, how so many people drop out, etc.

If you are/were in it, what classes did you take? (Just curious as to what's required)

Any other information?

Thank you so much!

Oh god you're in trouble. I am currently in Pre-IB (10th Grade) Prepare for lots of homework and stress. You will have no social life at all. If you were a straight A student (like I was) prepare to see your grades drop like stones. You will be required to take a number of AP classes so when you graduate high school you would essentially be a sophomore in college. In the 11th Grade you would officially be in the IB Diploma program or in an IB Career Certificate Program. At that point you will be required to take... well your entire schedule will be full of IB classes (which is harder than AP) Any other questions?

I'm going to take full IB next year (I already got a place reserved) because thanks to that I can go to college in Colombia without taking admission tests. Also thanks to the international part I could also go to Chile if I wished to. The most interesting class (although maybe its a school exclusive) for me is Theory of Knowledge which is like IB Philosophy. Seniors and ex-seniors do tell me that full-IB is VERY demanding especially with the work part, but at the end the effort is worth it.

Talk to me in a year and I'll have a very detailed answer.

All schools have theory of knowledge I think, at least I know mine does. Sounds pretty boring to me.

What classes are you taking in 10th grade and what classes did you have to take in 9th?

Last Year I took most of the regular Freshman classes (PE, Biology, Health) with the exception of AP Human Geography, Math II, and !0th Grade Comp Lit.

This Year its Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics(next semester), Math III, Advanced Composition, and AP Government and Politics.

The issue doesnt seem to be the individual courses so much themselves (even though it is a LOT more writing) as it is the fact that you have to double up on a lot of academic classes so it really is a TON of homework!
