I currently take a class called Informatica (Computer Sciences) and I just found out today that we had to turn in a certain piece of homework a large while back which I forgot to turn in!!!! I went over to my teacher and he said I could show it to him on Thursday and still (hopefully) get higher than an 1.

The only main dilemma is that to me it feels like cheating. Therefore is it right to do this and should I just accept the 1 (equivalent of an F) which will make it really hard to pass the class in the end and make me fail the year? Or should I just show him the assignment and hope that he grades it even though it should have been turned in way earlier and feel like a cheater?
Any and all advice is GREATLY appreciated. PLEASE Help!!!

I can not imagine any scenario where doing what a teacher asked you to do, would constitute cheating.
That is a non sequitur.

Man, you should look at your future.

Besides, your teacher told you it's ok, so I don't think it's cheating.

Always do what's best for you, of course, if that thing wouldn't be bad for someone.

And this is definately the best for you and since your teacher approved it isn't bad for anyone. :D

It's not really considered 'cheating' just considered being given an unfair advantage as the due date was clearly given and it's two weeks overdue so I should be getting a 1.

That's why points get taken off. You're not going to get a 5 (or whatever the highest is) like you would have had it been turned in on time, but you might get a couple of points, which makes a difference. Even a 3 is better than a 1, and it does impact your grade more than you might think.

If you turn it in, you'll get the grade you deserve, considering it's 2 weeks late, not the grade you deserve if you turned it in on time. If the teacher accepts it still, you'd be crazy to not take whatever points you can get. Late work isn't cheating or unfair, because you lose points for it being late.

You're going to get a lower grade, but don't feel like its cheating, turn it in, your grade might depend on it.

It's most definitely not cheating - you didn't deliberately refrain from turning it in on the actual due date. Hope you get better than 1!

I understand, you have scruples.
But sometimes people put themselves on unnecessary guilt trips.
The teacher is probably taking overall achievement into consideration.

No, it's not cheating. Work hard on your project to get higher than a 1, but things like this are why they give low scores. :(

Do whatever you can to increase your grade, its not cheating. The system is bad anyway but then again its difficult to change.

No worries. Just present the required work.
It's very important to pass.
It's not considered cheating if the teacher told you so.
If he's ok with it, so give the work dude.

Ok guys. Thanks for the feedback. I'll do it. Here's hoping for a 5 or higher (5.5 is a passing grade)
