View Full Version : I Just Thought I Should Say...

I am completely and totally lesbian. *breathes* I've only come out to one person so far who I knew would be supportive and just freaking amazing about this and giving me advice, VT's very own Kryptonite. I know it seems late in the game at 19 to be coming out, but for most of my life I thought I was bi and never liked labels or society's need to give others one. I've even ranted about this very topic, only to realize I was completely wrong. I don't need a label for society or others, but for my own identity and to know who I am. Is that to say if I ever randomly fell head over heels for a dude one day that I'd repress those feelings because of a label? Not at all. It just means this is what feels right and is who I am. I won't try to change that or be ashamed of it. Also, wanted to seriously, seriously thank VT because before I joined I would have never been comfortable enough in my own skin to ever say what I just did.
I'm seriously surprised people on here that also follow me on Tumblr have not assumed this yet.
And can I just clarify something? Lesbian and Gays do not want to jump the bones of every person of the same gender. That is the most ignorant, conceited thing I've ever discovered about all of this. :p We, just like everyone else, have types and like people based on personality and not just gender -- so don't flatter yourself if you think that way. I just wanted everyone to know that being a lesbian doesn't mean I've lost the ability to act like a civil human being and keep it in my pants.

Thanks, homes. I wonder if I can find a hallmark card with that sentiment on it.

You're a great person no matter what sexuality you are. Labels are just labels. It's a persons character that's really important. And you have great character. You're one of the kindest, coolest people I've ever talked too and that's what matters.

I really agree with your second paragraph; for me I find around 2% of every guy attractive in some way. The other 98% are what I call the 'neutrals' :P.
Best of luck in coming out. Things will change for the better. My life changed when it started.
