My girlfriend and I had sex for the first time a few nights ago, and I wasn't able to obtain a proper erection until she performed oral sex. I've always wondered how guys could have a problem with this, until I found myself in the situation. I had no problem once the the intercourse actually began, but I've never had difficulty getting it going before. Is this normal?

Its something most guys go through at least once in their lives, Its normal. If It happens often though, you may want to see a doctor

Although erection is a physiological response to erotic stimulation, there's a large psychological part to it. You have to be relaxed, and it doesn't sound like you were. Afterall, it was your first time with her, you might have been nervous.
It takes time to get prepared mentally for sex, it's not always like it is in the movies, where we guys should be able to perfrom at the drop of a hat, all the time, every time. Relax, take your time, maybe wait until you're more comfortable doing this very intimate thing with someone new. it's a big step.
And, please, say you were wearing a condom.

Yes it is quite common. I have heard alot of stories similar to this. It seems like just a visual isnt good enough when you are actually...well you know...so its pretty normal. you should not worry.

Well, I just had amazing sex with absolutely no problem. I guess it must've been the nerves from the first time. And yes, I made sure to use a condom this time. Thanks for the replies.
