who would win in a war? include allies but no nukes
thought I would give this debate a home:P
Watch our tongue, Canadian. Lest you find it in the grip of the American war machine some day.
BREAKING NEWS: The United States of America invade Canada!
OTHER BREAKING NEWS: The rest of the world declares war with the United States of America!
I'll be laughing over your failed attempt long before my tongue finds itself in the grip of the American war machine *cough* fascist army *cough*. ;)

*sigh* how war addicted are you people?
I'd root for Canada no matter what, I believe they have friendlier relations with a lot of other nations that could aid them.

They are? The only time I ever have issues with Canada is during the Winter Olympics. Guess I can't speak for everyone.

What is the point of this besides causing unnecessary problems. Pretty sure Canada and the US have no reason to go to war.

I'd say it's like a sibling rivalry; we have our differences but ultimately, we get along. Like I said though, I can't speak for everyone. I'm sure there's plenty of Canadians who would love to club an American over the head with a hockey stick.

britishboy, Americans and Canadians don't hate each other. I'm glad you quoted me so I could better illustrate the point I was trying to make.
I love America. I sincerely do. Even though it started as a violent nation led by supposedly freedom-loving patriots who were actually slave owners, nowadays, the country makes much more sense. At least, the Republicans are no longer in power, so no more conservative nonsense.
What I dislike is the fact that some Americans are still full of themselves and have been totally brainwashed to think that the only way to solve problems is to exact religious justice and to invade every country there is to subvert their people by violence. The so-called War on Terror is an absolute joke, as the U.S. Army are the real terrorists. That's not all! What about government agencies such as the NSA who wrongfully spy on the whole nation without their consent? Although the United States is moving towards the right way, there are still a lot of problems to solve, such as to get rid of the ridiculous mentality that guns are OK and abortion/gay marriage is not, for example. There are still so much mass murders in the States compared to the rest of the world and that is only because the utterly pitiful Second Amendment is still in place. Of course, Republicans will deny this with the ferocity of a thousand blazing supernovas and say that, no, we need even more guns to solve violence!
Don't get me wrong, though. A lot of Canadians are insecure douchebags, too. I know some of them. Hell, we're still stuck with Harper, to give you an idea of how dumb we can be. It's just that the U.S.A. are still stuck with a backwards mentality and are overall one of the least peaceful nations in the world.
I tried to explain my point to a group of kids who unfortunately think that war is good and actually believe that Iraq caused 9/11 (I actually died of laughter at that point), but one of them could only reply by a sole argument in which he basically threatened the nation of Canada of the wrath of the American "war machine", because I supposedly insulted their righteous military forces.
Overall, I love my American cousins. I have many, many friends south of the border and we love talking about hockey, baseball, bacon or whatever. I just wish that the average North American population would be more educated and finally realize that being the sapient species that we are, we can solve problems with diplomacy, not by shooting each other in the back of the head. Alas, some rednecks are truly devoid of anything resembling intelligence.

Pretty much correct on all accounts there. You and I have the same issues with this place. Things are getting better, though, albeit very, very slowly.

You're still allowed to discuss controversial topics here. That's doing a lot better than the other board I frequent - a lot.
On Topic: I don't see the point in discussing such an unlikely eventuality, really.

Canada, despite being vastly outnumbered we'd just wait until winter and then the US won't be able to handle it. :)
I wish the US would stop stealing our fresh water, but Harper is a bit dim.

neither nation is better then the other they have FLAWS both of them.
In Canada a citizen can not own a gun,and yet criminals still obtain them to commit crimes with.
In America a law abiding citizen and own a gun and even through the use of said defend their lives, that of their family and anyone else who is in danger of losing their lives.
Try that in Canada and you'd get tried for murder and having an illegal weapon!

Frankly, the United States would have air superior over Canada in a matter of days. Canada would be offered a chance to capitulate, and if they refused, the assault of their cities would begin. Cities would be systematically bombed, and, if they didn't surrender, bombed some more. I highly doubt the US would do many ground operations due to the harsh environment.

Canada and America practically are the same country, with NAFTA and etc. There would never be any war.
But, in an actual war, America would by far win. It does help to have the worlds largest military, and also helps that about $0.54 out of every $1.00 spent in taxes going to our "Defense".

The United States could easily annex Canada. But the fact that Canada and the United States are in NATO together means that one must leave, and the one who is still in NATO will have support of other NATO members.

In a one on one scenario, the USA would crush them. Well, not crush, but it would be an easy victory. Though in a scenario where Canada is backed by NATO, it would be fairly even but either Canada/NATO would win or it would end in a truce

Apparently, you're too ignorant to realize that the United States Military is NATO. Without the U.S., NATO is nothing.

To be honest, the US would absolutely destroy Canada if it ever came to that. I really hope it never does though. I love Canada.
Although, if it's the US that leaves NATO, than we would get destroyed. I'm talking about a scenario where Canada leaves NATO.
