Okay...if anyone knows, then straight out tell me the answer to this question.
Can you hide your online activity from your ISP with a VPN? People say yes. People say no. I just want a straight answer. And you have to be absolutely sure.
If it doesn't, then what does it really do?
Also, is there something that I can use, (hopefully free) that will hide my activity from my ISP. I am really paranoid and I don't appreciate anyone stalking my activity whether its online or off. :)

Does it hide your activities from your ISP? Yes. All your ISP will see is a VPN connection, but likely not what's in the VPN connection. Note that this doesn't hide you from a government attempting to track you, since the government could subpoena the VPN provider or use other means to track you.
You'd be interested in the Tor project, see https://www.torproject.org/

Thank you...and I know about the Tor project...I should probably use it more often...also can they tell what you are downloading? I need to make a backup of a game because I often lose my games...and I don't want my ISP to sue me...

Use Tor.
Tor by itself wont do any good.
Use a loggs free, outside the US, VPN (or build your own using proxychains) then TOR, a lot of SSH connections, yeah now you are kinda safe.

Thanks guys, your really helpful...but I have one last question:
Also is this enough to protect me from getting sued?:
VPN downloaded to my computer
v
VPN account with IP address in Netherlands
v
Proxy on internet
All running at once.
Other than the free vpn account I use CyberGhost and sometimes Tor, but it doesn't allow downloads.
