i've seen guys with older brothers and some get along ok, some get along great. but my 3 bros, all older, love to tease me. daily! nothing real bad but they do it in front of their friends and my friends. i'm not muscled or play as many sports as they do, so i get called squirt, runt, dweeb, and told i should have been a girl. and one of their friends joins in a lot. i ignore them mostly but it's hard when there are others around. i've asked my dad about it and he just says they are just being big brothers. anyone else have this problem? any suggestions?

My older brother sometimes does that in front of my cousins. They're just being stupid, it's normal that they want to show their superiority. Try not to join them when they are around other people, and whenever they need your help, tell them to piss off.

I have older bros and yeah they are ok - but its bad if they are teasing in with freinds who join in - maybe just outright ask them to stop.

I dont have an older brother, but my best friend's older brothers (two of them) always torment him. They tease him and me about being gay all the time, but only in front of me and them. We have all been friends forever - so it is like family. But this is getting old. They kid my buddy about being a girl too, and I know they have made him do some things, but nothing too bad yet. I guess brothers can be the ones you love the most and hate the most at the same time.

Basically, most of what you could do would either not help or encourage it. He does it cause you make it easy, you give him a reaction, and you don't put your foot down. But I would even recommend to do a serious talk instead of just telling him to stop. He needs to realize it actually hurts you. Often they don't really understand the true damage they are doing or the consequences of their actions. They just see the immediate gain, the boost in their ego or whatever the goal of the bullying is.

If all else fails, you can wait. You didn't say how old they are, but I'll tell you getting at least one of the siblings out from under the same roof will almost instantly mend the relationship. Some extreme cases the siblings just resent each other and that's how it'll be forever (my mum and her older sister, for instance. Still are at each other's necks over Christmas dinner), but when it's petty rivalry the root is competition for parental love, jealousy, immense annoyance, etc. Remove those and a huge weight is lifted. It's the living together that really puts a strain on the sibling relationships.

Don't try to get intimidated.they sadistically expect your reactions.
That's what older brothers do to the much younger ones.
Basically, you should try to be more independent and do great things.
That's how you earn respect. Of course, your elder brothers will not clap hands when you do great things. Rather, they'll try to intensify the bully. That's what you'll like since they will be at their maximum in bullying you. If you are smart enough, it's where you can corner them. Good luck! Be high-spirited! You can come out of this smartly. :)

Maybe you should try making them feel deservedly guilty. Ask them at a quiet time when you are alone with them things like "why do you hate on me so much?" "why do you always try to make me feel like shit?". I would think if they have any kind of affection towards you as older brothers should, that would have an impact.

I laughed when I read the thread title, because believe me, if there's anyone who understands it, it's me.

The most important thing is to act like it doesn't affect you, because they're looking for the reaction. Also, Ezra made a pretty good suggestion. Find a time when you're alone with one of them, and then ask them why it is that they don't treat you well.

That's how siblings are supposed to be.
