Life hack, before they look down there they ask if you're on your period. Say yes and they wont look. As long as it isn't a gyno then they won't do anything if you say you're on your period.

That is awesome advice. My doctor doesn't look down there, unless probably if you ask. I thought for minors you had to be at a gynecologist to get checked out down there if there's no indication anything is wrong, but it could just be because I still go to a pediatrician and usually have an appt. with my 12 and 6 year old siblings and mom in the room.

Well you can just ask the doc what the reason/intention of examinations

It honestly depends on the doctor. Some Pediatricians or GP's do a visual or manual genital exam even though they're not Gynecologists. If you're doctor does check down there, it's awkward at first, but you get used to it. If you're really concerned or embarrassed, you can tell him and ask for someone to be in the room with you to make you more comfortable. But it's over in about a minute or two.

I would think that it would be easier without another person in the room.
Also, to the OP, doctors see vaginas every day, so it's mostly awkward for the patient.

unless he has some reason to feel your at risk of having a STD or you tell him your sexually active I don't think you will have to remove your undies for a standard physical exam.
