when I try to enter the chat all i get is a blue screen. is there an age limit? or a post limit? i tried to find answer in rules but cannot locate it. if this is not right place for this i'm sorry please delete it.

There is no age/post limit -- you just need to be a registered user who is logged in. You likely need to update Java on your computer. Try that, if it doesn't work then shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can help you further.

I know that this has been resolved with Mike's help, but I just wanted to add one more thing in case someone reading this is having the same problem that Rex was.
Chat also will not work on any Apple mobile devices (iPhones, iPads..etc) and you'll get this same blue screen and error message that Rex described. This is due to the fact that Apple mobile devices are not Java enabled and never will be in the foreseeable future. Chat on VT requires the most up-to-date Java, and since Apple devices have no Java what so ever, there is no chance of it working.

I can't open chat on my Android phone either. They're equipped with Flash, but not a browsr version of Java. If I go to the chat, it tries to send me to a mobile version, but the admins didn't purchase it.

In theory chat should work on Android mobile devices since they are JavaScript enabled, however it still may not work due to the fact that the server knows you are on a compressed mobile device and may not be able to fit all the chat features in a smaller sized device than a computer.

The mobile version of the chat room has not been purchased. It's an extra $35 or so from what I'm aware of. What we have at the moment is just fine, we don't have that much money to be honest to afford it.
