Well I am not one you would classify as 'normal', and I was just wondering how you find out if you may have a mental illness or are actually 'normal'?

Well, "normal" doesn't really exist, because everyone has traits that make them different from everybody else.
But, if you're really concerned about this, try talking to a psychiatrist about whatever you think makes you "not normal" and they might be able to give you a diagnosis.
I don't really think you should be worried, though. At one point or another, someone thinks hey're somehow not normal. As I said though, everyone has traits that make them different.

The thing with mental illness is if it severely impacts your life.
No one is 100% mentally healthy. So the question you have to ask yourself is, how mentally ill you think you are and how it impacts your life. Some metal illness is psychological and can be because of some past bad experience. Other mental illness can be because of a chemical imbalance in the brain. Some mental illness can be due to how the brain itself is structured. My mental illness in the form of autism is to brain structure and other problems I have such as bi-polar, anxiety, depression and ADHD are chemical (I think, I'm just a kid not an expert).

I have been researching various personality disorders and a few seem to fit how I often feel.
But I'm Sorry, it probably sounded like a ignorant selfish question. ..

I think most people could have some "fits" to any mental illness - personality disorder - but it is the extent that any of these affect a person.
Psychiatry various person to person but the only way for sure would be a diagnoses.
You Q was NOt selfish or ignorant - this is a place to ask questions.

Oh I believe you would know. They impact peoples lives so I'm sure you'd notice. If something really bothers you that's a sign something up.
