whats your opinion? I actually agree and feel that game restrictions should be reworked and enforced. not that violence in video games is entirely responsible for mass shootings etc but the themes in the game and others like this really isnt for younger kids,

I've played GTA, heck I bought it on my own amazon account with a bank card that says I'm 16 and it passed through. It's not really an issue, I've seen all the stuff before on TV or on films. I've watched breaking bad for example- just as bad as GTA. There will always be media which includes violence. It's really not an issue

I've been playing 18+ games since I was 12 and it's had no effect on me. Of course, it'll have different effects on different people but, I don't see why it's an issue.

These standards are guidelines made for parents. It's up to the parent if they want to expose kids to stuff like that or not.
It's not like kids will be deranged or freaks out or have a trauma from playing games.

the lying about age is a problem:P but yeah I agree it's fine, it's just a guideline really, if your mature enough there isn't a problem
and to the OP what do you want? it's already illegal to buy it underage, making possession illegal would be pointless and a waste of already stretched resources

britishboy, video game guidelines are not laws (at least in America). A five year old could walk into Wal-Mart with 60 bucks and buy GTA V and the government wouldn't care as far as law enforcement is concerned. It wouldn't happen because Wal-Mart doesn't let underage people buy M rated games, but that's Wal-Mart's policy not the government's.

>thinking the government enforces age ratings
Tell me something, do you ever consider looking things up before you type them out? Or at least afterwards? Because you seem to be proven wrong quite a lot.

Being under 18 doesn't automatically make you sensitive to games like these.

I can see how it can be harmful to say like a 6 year old, but to someone that's even 10.. Not a big deal at all.

Not really a big deal, if they want to play it, then go for it. Even if they were to reinforce it, it wouldnt work. There would be a big revolt, and gaming companies would be loosing a lot of business.

Video games are for fun. I'd rather not have inexperienced people rant about things they have no knowledge on.

hey my 10 y.o self would totally agree, but what i feel the main point the guy from the video is trying to say is that 10 y.os have better thing to do than play a "heavy" game like gta, which is true i really miss the days when i could just go outside and play baseball with the neighborhood kids and do all the shenanigans kids that age would do, beats the excitement you get from gta

It's rated R so we should not be playing these games. But we still play them with little and 99% of the time it has no effect on the person.

News flash Einstein, law enforcement is part of the government. Who do you think pays for the fucking police department? Tax payers. Who gets money from the tax payers? The government. Ergo, government is the law enforcer. Jesus Christ is it this hard for your teachers to explain things to you?
Also, just because there's a guideline does not mean it's actual law. There is no law in the United States, or even anywhere in Europe that I'm aware of, that says you HAVE to check the ID of anyone who buys a game that has been rated by the ESRB or PEGI as Mature/18+. Companies have POLICIES to check the ID of purchasers, but that is not actual law. Christ almighty, I can't believe this is having to be explained to a 14 year old.

Only people who have problems with kids playing GTA are those left wing suburban soccer moms..
Regardless, the government should not be making decisions on what kids play, that should be up to the parents.

No, it's the parents choice how they raise their children.

It depends on the child, but restrictions should be enforced.
