Whenever my friends and I sleep over at each others houses we always like going on walks around our town late at like 2 or 3. We never do any drugs or alchahol. We don't egg anything or dingdong ditch. Our parents are okay with it most of the time but last time my friend lied and said we could go out and it was okay with his parents but they werent okay. We took his bikes and two skate boards and him out to a parking lot. When we got back his dad was mad and told us that this was the kind of thing that got us in trouble with the law. Was he serious? There is no curfew in my town. Were we doing something illegal or was he just overthinking it. Sorry this isnt really related to other posts but i dont know where else to put it. :p

I think most of the time the police would stop and question a group of kids out on the street at 2-3 am and then drive them back home and question their folks.

Not really a good idea or lying to parents

I would say it could get you in trouble with the law if the police would have caught you guys. Where I live being out at 2-3 am would have gotten you a ride to the sheriffs dept. and a call to your parents to come pick you up. Since you got caught by your friends dad and not the police unless his dad told your parents about the walk all you have to deal with is that your friend lied to you saying it was Ok to go out.

He did wrong lying to his parents. I dont know how it is there, but here we can walk at 2, 3, 4 whatever, and the police wont mind. As long as we aren't making a lot of noise it's cool.

We have a curfew law, but it is NOT enforced at all. Sometimes the police will give you a ride home, and they won't speak to your parents. Otherwise they will just wave at you and drive on.

Lying to parents is never a good idea. However, it looks like there is a proxy curfew going on that you don't know about until you break it.

I've never heard of a curfew law other than in times of emergency. Unless you have one in your town, I would think it's perfectly legal to "loiter" in the middle of the night. No one would question me if I went for a walk like that. Maybe your friend's dad though you might've been "up to no good" by vandalizing or drugs/alcohol?

Unless you have someone over 18 with you, you cant be out past 11. Thats my state any way. But yeah me and my friends were staying at our state officer advisors hous last friday night because we had tk fly to d.c. at 4 am so wee all decided it would be a good idea to play flash light tag at 2 am.then it turned into tenis ball tag the there was a crash and a scream and we had to go in because T threw a toy bat at L haha!

He probably thought you were doing drugs or something, but seriously your friend shouldn't have lied, but yeah the police could very well have thought you were getting into trouble and taken you home, but really he was probably overthinking it. I had never heard of a curfew law before this except in a play (which took place in a fairytale kingdom and I didn't give it any thought), and as far as I know there are none where I live.

Your fine long as everyone's parents are actually OK with it and you don't do anything stupid. If cops question you then, they could just phone your parents and they would say its fine.

Long as there is no curfew. Our town has one. Its stupid. Doesn't stop vandals or drugs. 10pm

I don think it is a good idea to do that. late night can mean problems. And it is not good to lie.

Police tend to stop kids just to make sure they're not doing anything illegal/vandalizing. Think about it; if you were a police officer and saw a few teenagers out on bikes, skateboards or even just walking around at 2-3 in the morning wouldn't you wonder what they're up to? They're just doing their jobs, but unfortunately insinuate quite a lot at the same time.

I think your friend's dad was just concerned that you would have gotten stopped by the police and that your parents would have found out that you got taken into custody under their supervision -- doesn't look so great on them. He's also just doing his job as a parent, which is to worry about what his children and their friends are doing out late at night.

I too like to go for long walks at night with my friends. It's relaxing, helps my anxiety and it's a nice scene when it's dark at night and the town is quiet. We got stopped by a police officer a few weeks ago -- we weren't doing anything illegal -- he was just wondering what we were doing walking around at 1 am. We told him we were just going for a walk and he said "okay, have a good night." Some police officers may be nicer than others, but I think your friends dad just didn't want you to have a bad encounter with the cops, or maybe he was worried that you guys were doing something illegal after all :P

I've taken my dog for a walk at around that time... I had woken up early and there is a fox out at that time that teases my dog so it's kinda fun.. But Where this happens is in a cul de sac so there are no police around

I just dont think walking the streets at a late night is good to do. I have heard of things that can happen that are not good.

my brother used to do that sort of thing
its just the time you out can make parents think you are "up to mischief" to quote my mum :)

We live in the country, and I go walking at any time. It's really great, although my mum insists on ringing me all the time to check on me.
