Is there such a thing as 'weird' side effects when you're sick and have an upset stomach?

When I'm sick and my stomach is upset, if I'm sitting or standing I'll get goosebumps and get the sense of someone being behind it, it'll scares me and won't go away until I lay down and my stomach calms down.

One that has happened recently but not in the past is my upper body will be really hot on the inside, the outside will be freezing cold sometimes though. It'll happen on the back of my neck, head, and face. I'll feel like I'm sweating even though I'm not, I'll throw up sometimes, get a stiff sack and occasional diarreah until my stomach calms down again..

The last one that used to happen more frequently but not as much recently is I'll get a kind of 'flashback' to a memory really quickly and then I can't remember what its about, ever.

Is something wrong with me? or are these just little things that don't matter since they only happen when I'm sick. Thanks in advance.

Hi Kenneth....

I don't really know the answer to what you're asking....but can I ask you something?
Why all the upset stomachs? Is there some underlying issue that's causing that?

Are you overall in good health? Under a lot of stress?

Can you give a little more background?

And; what do you mean by a "stiff sack"?

Just sick really, I recently got back from a 2 week trip and things like fast food and such don't settle well with me, so I got sick. So i'll get upset around 3-7 times a day. I'm in good health for the most part, besides my being sick right now.

'Stiff sack' I meant my actual sack get very tight, I have trouble urinating if I have to go, basically just feels like its stuck in my bladder (which it does come out eventually)

Well I get goosebumps, but other than that I really don't know. It could be some underlying psycological issue causing flashbacks and feeling like someone is behind you, but don't take my word for it, however especially flashbacks make me think you should talk to a therapist.

this sounds rather strange, this could be a whole range of problems from hypertension, stress, ptsd, various heart problems, i suggest you take your blood pressure when you go through these phases, if anything im suprised you havent told your parents which should be the first thing you do when u finish reading this, this sounds kind of unusual and needs to be looked at

OK; you probably are....but since this the 2nd post where you are talking about intestinal issues.....it would seem that this has been going on for awhile now.....

Kenneth....I think it's time you talk to your parents and get in to see a doctor. Symptoms like you are describing shouldn't be ignored.

It's probably something taking a few pills will fix....but you need to find out.

They aren't like something that was mentally scarring to me, I really haven't had a moment like that. All I really remember about them is they're like..phrases? in a way. Like 'the cow jumped over the moon' thats just an example, they're a little more complicated than that.

I've told my step dad a few times in the past but he never really seemed to be too interested in it. I've also told quite a few of my brothers and sisters, they kinda took it a bit more serious but nothing to get checked out for.

I shouldn't really have high blood pressure, as every time I've been checked it was normal. As for the rest I'm not really sure about especially PTSD, I don't feel too stressed most of the time either.

The bladder issue has been a more recent thing than a reoccurring thing from the past, the only problem I've had with that area previous was a UTI, but that wasn't recent.

No; I was talking about your other post regarding diarrhea....which you mention in this post too. A poster above talks about the loss of fluids with resulting dehydration from persistant diarrhea.....but remember too....with diarrhea much of the nutrients that you take in in your food goes directly into the toilet. Not only will you get dehydrated....but you will be dealing with inadequate nourishment as well.

I just think that your symptoms; especially when taken together....sound a bit concerning. If your step-dad doesn't want to deal with it....maybe you can talk to a school nurse...or a friend's mom whose a nurse.....someone like that.

We're just kids here....not doctors....but most all of the responses here seem to indicate people are concerned for you.

A side effect is something you get from taking a certain medication.
Symptoms are what you have when you have the flu or whatever virus.
If you are experiencing these symptoms and you don't have a specific short term illness like the flu, then it's an indication that there could be something very wrong with you.
There's acute: It lasts a short time and then doesn't come back for months or a year.
There's chronic: I happens on a regular basis.
Anything chronic or lasting more then two weeks, means you need to get a full medical examination. If it's something serious, the longer you wait, the worse it will get and the harder to cure.

I think it is Ok since it only happens when your ill but I'm very far from someone who is about 20 miles from being a doctor.

you could have some sort of irritable bowel disease...crohns, colitis, I have crohns, lots of similar symptoms I had before I was diagnosed, I recommend seeing a doctor about it right away...and don't be soft with them, its something that gets over looked a ton, so ask if it could be crohns or colitis

do you feel this way after you eat or drink certain foods?
